Floor joint sealing in Inch, done properly

Floor joint sealing for us covers warehouse aisles, loading bays, production halls, retail floors and showroom slabs. Each job is priced from the metres of joint, their condition and the access windows we get, and the quote is fixed before we mobilise. If you have drivers complaining about joints on a route and open saw cuts full of debris, we can help, on construction joints, forklift and pallet-truck routes and saw-cut induced joints alike. Sealant applicators who only do sealant are a different proposition from a general trade with a gun in the van: in Inch, that means joint design, primers and backing rod as standard.

Around the edges of Scotland’s cities are warehouses, trade counters and distribution units, each with saw-cut and construction joints under forklifts and pallet trucks. The right filler or sealant, laid in phases, keeps them operating.

Building owners and contractors get the same cover: twelve months on the work we carried out. Faults in the structure, damage and other trades’ work fall outside it, and we say so plainly.

Why it’s worth doing now in Inch

Dirt and spillage gather in open joints where scrubber-driers can’t get it out. Where the floor is on show or needs to be kept clean, that is a problem. Filled joints are far simpler to keep clean. In Inch, as across Scotland, rain finds any gap, so a split or hardened joint lets water into the wall. Resealing promptly protects the stone and the interior.

Every site prices differently: joint size, product, access and site hours all play a part. A fixed quote follows once we understand the job.

FAQs: Inch

Is Peffermill Industrial Estate, near Inch, within your area?

Yes. We cover Inch and the area around it, including industrial estates, business parks and retail parks such as Peffermill Industrial Estate. Send details of the unit and the work through our quote form for a quick quote.

Do you take on work at healthcare sites like Royal Hospital for Children and Young People?

Yes, healthcare and care buildings are part of our work. Work is phased so departments keep running, under the site’s own rules.

Are your applicators CSCS-carded?

Yes. Should the site need card details in advance, tell us and we will confirm them with the quote.

Can you send site paperwork?

Requirements differ from site to site, so tell us what you need and we’ll confirm it when we quote.

How long does a typical visit take?

The duration is planned around your programme and the access we are given. We will give you an estimate of time on site when we quote.

Which is better for warehouse joints, filler or sealant?

There isn’t one answer for a whole floor. Where hard wheels cross, a semi-rigid filler is normally right and perimeter or movement joints need flexibility. The quote sets out what goes where.

Can you phase floor joint work around operations?

Normally only the zone we’re working in has to close. Each zone reopens when the product can take traffic and the next zone follows.

How a job runs

A typical day starts with protection: masking tape along the joint edges and sheeting over anything nearby. On site, the work normally takes a day for smaller units, with bigger warehouse floors programmed over several visits, and our waste is bagged and taken away as we go. Work on a big city site in Scotland normally involves inductions and permits. Tell us the rules and we’ll work to them.

  1. A floor survey records every joint, its edges and what crosses it.
  2. The treatment and the zones are set out in a fixed quote.
  3. Old fill and packed debris come out until both faces are sound.
  4. We extract the dust and prime the faces if the product needs it.
  5. The joint is filled to its specified depth and trimmed level.
  6. Zones reopen once cured and the work moves on.

Getting the site ready

  • Flag any permit to work we’ll need
  • Move anything stored against the joints
  • Send your site hours and access windows

Getting a fixed quote

A good quote starts with a clear picture: the joints involved, quantities, access and the product called for. Share whatever details you have and we will fill any gaps with a visit.

Site staff or a sealant specialist?

Redoing a failed joint typically costs more than getting it right at the outset, because the whole bead must be removed and the faces cleaned back again. For that reason, many FMs and contractors use a sealant specialist from the outset.

What you see is the finished bead, but most of the work is hidden. Backing rod, primer where specified and a joint designed to move with the building are easy to get wrong without experience.

For managing agents and facilities managers

Facilities managers want contractors who arrive with the paperwork sorted. Tell us what site paperwork you need, such as RAMS, an insurance certificate or CSCS details, and we will confirm with the quote.

For main contractors, we work as the sealant subcontractor. We work to your programme, your specification and your site rules, with CSCS-carded applicators on site.

Surface by surface

Loading bays and dock areas

Joints at dock doors need a product that copes with the traffic and the conditions. Phasing is planned around your delivery schedule.

Isolation joints at walls and columns

Joints at walls and columns are often missed when floors are sealed and fill up with dirt. We include them in the survey.

Warehouse floors and decks around Inch

The sea is no more than about 3 miles from Inch. Open joints in coastal car parks and yards let in salt-laden water as well as grit, so a failed joint lets more in and the edges break up sooner. Being in the east of Scotland, Inch gets less rain than the west coast. Frost and winter road salt still work into open joints in car parks and yards. Autumn is a sensible time to seal them.

Campuses like University of Edinburgh - Little France Campus, 0.7 miles to the east of Inch, mix old and new buildings, with movement joints wherever they meet. At a retail site such as Cameron Toll Shopping Centre (0.5 miles north-west of Inch), trolleys, cages and cars run over floor and slab joints all day.

Do you need floor joint sealing in Inch?

Floor joints collect dust, oil, curing compound and cleaning residue. Without cutting back to sound, clean concrete the new filler can’t stay bonded.

What tends to prompt an enquiry:

  • Brittle joint filler breaking up
  • Broken arrises where pallet trucks cross
  • Trucks and loads jolting over damaged joints
  • Flexible sealant torn out by wheels

At places like Holyrood Business Park, 1 mile to the north-east of Inch, joints are sealed a section at a time so operations carry on.
