How coloured sealant works in West Berkshire
On a finished interior or a high-quality elevation, the sealant is part of the look. Our coloured sealant work blends joints into the surrounding materials, from powder-coated frames to stone and brick. The right product for the joint always comes first, then the colour. Most enquiries involve colour changes after a rebrand or refit and a bead that fights the cladding or frame colour, across powder-coated and anodised frames, office fit-out finishes and shop-fit joinery and counters.
We bring the products specified for the job, along with primers and backing rod. Joint faces are cleaned back to sound, dry surfaces, primer goes on where the manufacturer specifies it, and the sealant is tooled off neatly.
- First we agree which sealant type the joint needs.
- We compare the target colour with the colours available.
- The nearest colour is agreed, with a sample bead where needed.
- We cut out the existing bead, clean and set the depth.
- We mask, seal and tool to a clean line.
- We remove the masking and walk the finished joints with you.

What’s near Newbury
Locally, jobs take us to sites close to St Nicolas Church, Victoria Park and St Bartholomew's School. Other local landmarks include The Diamond Tap (under half a mile north-east), St Nicolas C.E. Junior School (less than half a mile south) and St Bartholomew's School (0.6 miles south-west). Newbury has its own railway station: Newbury station. Nearby you’ll also find Donnington Castle (1.6 miles north-west) and West Berkshire Community Hospital (1.5 miles east). Green spaces nearby include Audrey's Meadow.
Coloured sealant across West Berkshire: the area picture
From Newbury, Thatcham and Burghfield Common outwards, West Berkshire has a broad spread of commercial premises: shops, offices, hotels, restaurants and units. We cover the whole area, so occupiers with several sites can use one contractor and one point of contact.
We work across Greater London and the South East counties, so jobs in West Berkshire are planned with access, loading and parking in mind.
Newbury: Premises within reach of Newbury station, under half a mile south-east of Newbury, often have busy frontages where joints are seen by everyone passing. Shop fits at places like Parkway Shopping Centre, less than half a mile to the north of Newbury, leave counters, frontages and floor edges where the sealant colour is part of the finish.
Why act early?
A standard colour is quicker to source, though not always right. On visible work, the small extra effort of a colour from the product’s range pays off at handover.
Questions to ask before you book
- What site paperwork they can supply
- Is the sealant right for the movement and the substrate?
- Their plan for phasing and protecting the area
- Will CSCS-carded applicators be on site?
What sealant work can’t fix
Sealant solves a lot, but not everything, and we’re upfront when that’s the case. It won’t fix:
- Cleaning or repairing the surrounding finishes
- Finishes that change colour from one area to another
- Custom-mixed sealant colours
What affects the price in West Berkshire
Before we quote, we look at:
- Travel to remote or island sites
- Joint width, depth and condition
- The site’s rules and procedures
- Working within restricted access windows
Access can matter as much as the joints themselves: joints within easy reach take less time than ones that need access equipment. Tell us how the joints are reached and call for a quote.
Sending details for a quote
Good information means a firmer quote. Helpful details to send:
- The asbestos register, for older buildings
- The product your specification calls for
- When you need the work done
- Where the site is, with the postcode
Every quote starts with the facts: what’s there, how much of it, how we reach it and what’s specified. Share whatever details you have and we’ll fill any gaps with a visit.
For managing agents and facilities managers
Blocks and communal areas make up much of the work for housing associations and agents. We phase the work so people keep access, with each stage agreed with your site contact.
Whether you’re a managing agent, a property factor or an owner’s representative: send details, get a fixed quote, we seal, guaranteed. Keys, access and contacts can be agreed in advance.
Different surfaces, different methods
Paintable sealants
Some joints are better sealed with a paintable product and decorated. That only works where the joint and specification allow it, as paint can crack on a moving joint.
Hotel interiors
In hotels, sealant shows in rooms, bathrooms and front-of-house. Sanitary silicone comes in colours too.
West Berkshire: questions and answers
Will your applicators have CSCS cards?
Yes. We use CSCS-carded applicators, as many construction sites ask for.
Can weather delay the job?
For external joints, yes. Sealant needs a dry joint and a temperature within the product’s range, so damp, frosty or very cold days can stop external work. Internal work is rarely affected.
How many days will you need on site?
The duration is planned around your programme and the access we are given. You’ll have an expected duration with the quote.
Will you come and look before quoting?
Photos, drawings or a schedule are often enough to quote. If the job needs a look first, we’ll arrange a visit before quoting.
How do we ask for a quote?
There are four steps: send details, get a quote, we seal, guaranteed. Step one needs little more than photos and a postcode.
What if there’s asbestos in the old mastic?
Managing asbestos is the dutyholder’s responsibility, so for older buildings we ask for the asbestos register first. If anything suspect turns up, we stop until it’s tested.
How much does the work cost?
We don’t publish prices, as every site differs. With photographs or drawings, we can give you a fixed quote.
