Need washroom sealing in The Mint?

Send drawings, photos or a joint schedule, or tell us about the site, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Why act early in The Mint

Bleaching black sealant may lighten it for a few days but the growth is inside the bead and returns. A full reseal deals with it and your cleaning team stops chasing it. Around The Mint, it’s better to renew all the failing joints at once, rather than one at a time. Photos of every joint help us quote for the whole job.

There’s no price list, since every building and every scope is different. For a fixed figure, call for a quote and we’ll price your job on its own details.

Washroom sealing in The Mint

Closing all the facilities in a building isn’t an option. Work is phased by room or by section, so there are always facilities in use. Tell us your site hours and access windows and we’ll plan around them. We work on vanity units and basins, showers, trays and wet room floors and urinals and WCs, and the usual reasons a site gets in touch are failed joints along IPS and cubicle panels and kitchen worktop joints that can’t be kept clean. For commercial sealant work in The Mint, you deal with one contact from quote to sign-off, whether it’s one building or several.

Smaller places such as The Mint still have commercial washrooms and kitchens: in halls, pubs, schools, care homes and farm-based businesses. Mould gets into sealant in any washroom that doesn’t dry out, and once it’s in, the sealant is replaced.

Building owners and contractors get the same cover: a 12-month guarantee on our workmanship. It doesn’t extend to damage, faults in the building or work by others, and we are upfront about that.

Questions about The Mint

Must every washroom in our The Mint building shut while you work?

Usually only some of them, for a short time. We work in phases so other facilities stay open. Sanitary silicone needs time to cure before the area is used, and we will tell you how long for the product used.

Is The Mint off your patch?

Not at all: smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and the South East counties. We plan jobs in smaller places so return trips are kept to a minimum.

Will your applicators have CSCS cards?

Yes. Should the site need card details in advance, let us know and we will send them with the quote.

Is any job too small?

Small jobs are welcome alongside larger packages. Send details for a fixed quote.

Is old silicone taken out first?

The whole of the old bead is removed and the surfaces cleaned first. That’s what makes the new joint last.

Will you come and look before quoting?

It depends on the job. Simple work can often be priced from photos, and bigger or more complex jobs usually get a visit.

How much does the work cost?

There isn’t a price list, as every site differs. Send photographs or drawings and we’ll price it at a fixed figure.

How the quote is worked out

Quotes vary with the job. It mainly depends on:

  • Induction, permit and paperwork requirements
  • Backing rod, priming and other preparation
  • How accessible the joints are
  • Removal of failed or old sealant

Access can matter as much as the joints themselves: joints within easy reach take less time than ones that need access equipment. Tell us how the joints are reached and call for a quote.

Before you send an enquiry

It doesn’t need to be a full survey. These details are enough to start:

  • Asbestos survey details if the building is older
  • Any specification or named product
  • What the building is and how it’s used
  • When you need the work done

The quickest route to a quote is a few photographs and the site postcode. Send them through the quote form, or call 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings if you’d rather talk the job through.

Different surfaces, different methods

Urinals and WC pans

Joints around urinals and WC pans take splashes, cleaning chemicals and knocks. Stained or split joints here trap smells and look unhygienic.

Kitchens and tea points

Kitchen joints need to be smooth and sealed so they can be cleaned properly. Food-safe sealants are used where food may touch the joint.

Owners, agents and contractors

FMs need a contractor who is easy to get on site. Let us know the documents you need (RAMS, insurance certificate, CSCS details) and we’ll confirm them with the quote.

Whether you are a managing agent, a property factor or an owner’s representative: send details, get a fixed quote, we seal, guaranteed. We can agree access arrangements and keyholder contacts beforehand.

Washroom sealing in The Mint: the local picture

Central London is about 46 miles from The Mint. Office toilets in the commuter belt are in use from first arrivals to last departures, which is why the work is phased.

For a site such as Chase Community Hospital, 3.9 miles north of The Mint, sanitary joints in clinical areas need sound, cleanable sealant and a careful method. Church halls and community buildings, such as those at Hope Church, have kitchens and toilets used by many groups, and their sanitary sealant works hard. For a school such as Liss Junior School, washroom and kitchen sealant can be renewed around term dates.

The Mint is about 4 miles north-east of Petersfield, in Hampshire. We cover The Mint, and jobs here get the same fixed quote and 12-month guarantee as anywhere else. The Mint is one of 723 places in Hampshire on our list. There’s a separate page for Portsmouth, about 19 miles away.

How a job runs

On arrival, we sign in, go through any site induction and check how permits are handled. Floors, finishes and fittings next to the joints are covered before any cutting starts, and the work normally takes a few hours for one toilet block, with bigger buildings phased across a number of visits. Smaller jobs around The Mint can be grouped with others nearby, which keeps travel down. A fixed quote is given before anything starts.

  1. Every washroom is checked joint by joint, with loose panels, leaks or damp noted for the right trade.
  2. The phasing is agreed so there are always facilities open.
  3. The failed silicone is stripped and every face scraped clean of residue.
  4. Joints are cleaned, degreased and dried before sealing.
  5. A bead of anti-mould sanitary silicone goes in and is tooled to a smooth, cleanable profile.
  6. You get a reopening time for every room, with signage left up until then.

Aftercare for building managers

Sealant joints are maintenance items, and their life depends on movement, exposure, cleaning and use. Our advice:

  • Make sure washroom ventilation is running
  • Act on the first split you see at a shower tray
  • Leave signs up until the cure time is over
  • Inspect washroom sealant regularly

Mild cleaning products and non-abrasive cloths look after sanitary silicone best. Strong acids, solvents and scourers wear the surface and give mould a start.

Inspectors look at whether kitchen surfaces can be kept clean. Resealing sinks, worktops and splashbacks before an inspection is a simple step.
