What affects the price in Hungerford
Before we quote, we look at:

- Distance, for remote addresses

- Access and working height
There’s no price list, since every building and every scope is different. For a fixed figure, call for a quote.
What to include in your enquiry
Good information means a firmer quote. Helpful details to send:
- How the joints are reached, and at what height
- The site address and postcode
- Whether the building will be occupied during the work
- A wide shot and a close-up of the area
Send us photographs, drawings or a joint schedule and a fixed quote comes back to you. If the job needs a look first, we’ll arrange a site visit.
Fire stopping for commercial buildings in Hungerford
Most of our fire stopping work happens after the building is up. Each new cable, pipe or data route cut through a fire-resisting wall leaves an opening behind, often unnoticed. Those on your schedule are closed with the specified product. If you’re dealing with seals that don’t match their tested detail and unsealed openings around new pipes and cables, we can put it right, whatever the surface. Sealant applicators who only do sealant are a different proposition from a general trade with a gun in the van: on jobs in Hungerford, preparation and product choice get the time they need.
A job near Hungerford is normally planned around one visit, so send the specification and photos first. We install to the specification and the manufacturer’s guidance, leaving design and sign-off with the designer and building control.
Every job is signed off with a 12-month guarantee. The promise is simple: if our work fails within that year, we put it right.

Penetration seals near Hungerford
Hungerford lies roughly 31 miles out from central London. Offices around the capital are refitted often, and the cabling that follows can breach fire-resisting walls; the gaps need the specified seal. Approved Document B is the English guidance that covers fire stopping around openings and penetrations. References to the older BS 476 classes are being removed from it from 2 September 2029, after which the European classification, BS EN 13501-2, is the route, subject to transitional arrangements. We install whatever has been specified, to the product’s tested detail.
For an estates team at a campus like University of Reading (4.8 miles west of Hungerford), summer M&E works are usually followed by a round of penetration sealing. On a site such as Castle End Business Park (1.9 miles north-west of Hungerford), every fit-out that runs new services through a compartment wall leaves penetrations to seal with the specified product. Schools such as Waltham St Lawrence Primary School often have new data and services installed during holidays, and penetrations through fire-resisting walls should be checked afterwards.

Commercial clients in Hungerford
Main contractors use us as their sealant subcontractor, on new build and refurbishment alike. We work to your programme, your specification and your site rules, with CSCS-carded applicators on site.
FMs need a contractor who is easy to get on site. Tell us what site paperwork you need, such as RAMS, an insurance certificate or CSCS details, and we’ll confirm with the quote.
Your questions answered
Will you plan work around the academic year at somewhere like University of Reading?
Yes. Education sites usually want the work in vacations or in phases during term, and we plan to suit. Tell us which site documents you need, such as RAMS, our insurance certificate or CSCS details, and they’re confirmed with the quote.
Can you take on a job at a hospital such as Wokingham Hospital?
Yes, provided the work is planned with the site’s estates team. Before anything starts, the estates team agrees permits, inductions and infection-control measures with us.
How long does a typical visit take?
It depends on the scope, but the work normally takes a single visit for a short list of penetrations, or a phased programme for a whole building. Larger or phased jobs take longer, and we’ll give you a timescale with the quote.
Is it fine to apply new sealant on top of old?
No, never. Sealing over old material is one of the classic causes of early joint failure, so it all comes out first.
Do you work in Hungerford?
Yes. Sites across Hungerford are covered, with one number for every area we cover.
Who decides which product is used?
If the job is specified, we follow the specification. Otherwise, we recommend a product to suit the joint’s movement, the substrate and the conditions, following the manufacturer’s guidance.
What site paperwork can you supply?
Tell us what site paperwork you need (RAMS, insurance certificate, CSCS details) and we will confirm with the quote.
How a job runs
Tell us your site hours and access windows and we will plan around them. On the day, the work area is kept contained and tidy, and your contact hears from us before we move to the next area. Rural sites near Hungerford may need directions, gate codes or a contact on site. Add it to your enquiry and we’ll build it into the plan.
- We ask for the product and detail your designer has specified.
- We sort the openings by the detail each one needs.
- Improvised fillers and failed sealant are removed.
- Where the detail needs backing, it goes in at the stated depth.
- Fire-rated or intumescent sealant goes in around the services and is tooled off.
- Completed areas are checked with you, with the records agreed when we quoted.

When it isn’t the sealant
Not every problem is a sealant problem, and we’d rather tell you before you spend money. These need a different solution:
- Plastic pipes whose detail calls for a collar or wrap
- Designing or specifying fire stopping, which sits with the designer or fire engineer
- Fire doors, dampers or other fire safety equipment
Not sure which it is? You can speak to us on 01277 525 020 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.
Surfaces we seal
- Joints between fire-resisting walls and floors
- Linear gaps at wall heads
- Cable penetrations
- Service gaps in risers
- Pipe penetrations
- Small duct penetrations where the tested detail allows
Why it’s worth doing now in Hungerford
Open penetrations multiply: each new service adds to the list. Keeping on top of it after each round of works keeps the job small and avoids a much larger catch-up later. Older rural buildings around Hungerford move with the seasons, and rigid or tired sealant can’t keep up. The right product, sized to the joint, copes much better.
The price depends on how many linear metres there are, how much old material needs removing and the access. Call for a quote when you’re ready.
What you get with us

After the work
Regular inspection catches problems early. In particular:
- Record which product was used where
- Check risers and ceiling voids after each round of works
- Brief every trade that openings they make must be sealed
- Flag new cables with no seal around them
Once the seals are in, tell other trades they exist and must not be disturbed. If a seal has to be opened for a new service, it should be reinstated to the same detail using the same product.
Looking at service areas on a regular cycle pays off. Catching a damaged seal early keeps the fix small; found late, it can be one of many.
