How we handle construction mastic in Evie

Since 2005 we’ve worked alongside main contractors, developers and fit-out firms. Quantities come off the drawings, the sequence is agreed with the site manager and the work follows the trades. For construction mastic on a scheme in Evie, send drawings through our quote form, or phone or email us to talk it through. We work on cladding and panel joints, brick and block movement joints and floor and skirting junctions, and the usual reasons a site gets in touch are early adhesion failures on new external joints and old sealant on a refurbishment that needs stripping before new work. Facilities teams, main contractors and managing agents in Evie tend to want the same three things: a clear scope, tidy work and joints that don’t fail again.

External sealing around Evie depends on dry faces and the right temperature. We build some give into the plan and agree it with the site manager.

Every job ends the same way: guaranteed. You get a 12-month guarantee on our workmanship, and we explain exactly what that covers when we quote.

Contractors’ notes for Evie

The sea is no more than about 1 mile from Evie. Coastal exposure means perimeter and cladding joints work harder than on an inland job, which puts weight on correct joint sizing, priming and a sealant suited to the exposure. For an island location such as Evie, work is planned around ferry crossings and the weather. With drawings and the programme in hand, the whole mastic package comes with us.

Window perimeters and facade joints around Evie need correct width, depth and backing rod as much as a neat finish. For contractors building in or near Evie, we seal to the drawings, the specification and the programme.

Evie is about 11 miles north-west of Kirkwall, in the Orkney Islands. Looking for construction mastic in Evie? We can help. 51 places across the Orkney Islands fall within our area, Evie among them.

Fire-rated sealant where specified

Fire-rated sealant forms part of some packages, installed to the product’s tested detail where it is specified. The design and sign-off of fire stopping sit with the designer, principal designer or fire engineer; we work to the specification and the manufacturer’s installation guidance.

Bathrooms, en suites and washrooms

On multi-unit schemes, consistency matters across hundreds of bathrooms. One applicator team gives the same finish everywhere following the programme.

Work for main contractors and building owners

Agents, factors and owners’ representatives all follow the same route: send the details, accept a fixed quote, and we carry out and guarantee the work. We can agree access arrangements and keyholder contacts beforehand.

Hotels, schools, healthcare sites, offices and retail units book us directly too. We plan around the way the building is used, so the building keeps working while we do.

Your questions answered

Does the sea air around Evie change the choice of sealant?

It can. Wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt air are harder on external joints. We choose the product for the exposure, prime where the manufacturer requires it and size the joint for its movement.

Can the mastic package for our job in Evie follow the site programme?

Yes. Send the programme and drawings, and we’ll plan the mastic to suit the stages. Let us know which documents your site asks for, and we’ll confirm them alongside the quote.

What’s the quickest route to a quote?

The quote form is the simplest route, though you can also phone 01277 525 020 or use the quote form. Include photos or drawings if you have them.

Can you fit around our programme?

Working to your programme, we seal each area as it’s handed over. The sequence is settled with your site team and adjusted as things change.

How do you choose the sealant?

The specification comes first, if there is one. If there isn’t one, it comes down to the joint: how much it moves, what it bonds to and whether it’s wet, trafficked or fire-rated.

Can you follow the specification on our project?

Yes. The specification and the manufacturer’s installation guidance are what we work to.

Will you stick to the specified products?

The specification decides the product. Specifications often reference BS EN 15651 or BS 6213.

Keeping the joints sound

After handover, a little attention goes a long way:

  • Bring the mastic contractor in after the last trades are through
  • Get the mastic subcontractor involved early in the programme
  • Use the product the specification names
  • Keep product details for future maintenance

At handover, keep the product details with the O&M information. Future maintenance is easier when the products are known. We can confirm the handover information you need when we quote.

In wet areas, a weak sanitary joint shows up quickly once the building is occupied. Water gets behind trays, vanity tops and panels. Proper preparation, with the right silicone first time, keeps it off the defects list.

What happens if it’s left?

A cheaper sealant can look like an easy saving on a large package. The saving is small next to the cost of callbacks and defects, especially externally. We price the specified product and will tell you plainly where an alternative would or wouldn’t work. Buildings that aren’t in daily use, such as halls and seasonal premises, may let water in unnoticed, so a failed joint has time to cause damage. Early resealing prevents it.

A quote for mastic packages depends on quantities, condition and access, and any specification that applies. Call for a quote.

Quoting for work in Evie

What shapes the price:

  • Distance, for remote addresses
  • Joint width, depth and condition
  • The total length or number of joints
  • Removal of failed or old sealant

The product called for affects the cost, as does the preparation each joint needs, such as cutting out, priming or new backing rod. Access, phasing and site requirements come into it too.

Details that help us quote

There’s no need for a formal survey. A few details are enough to get going:

  • Any dates the work must fit around
  • The type of building and who uses it
  • Drawings or a marked-up plan, if available
  • A wide shot and a close-up of the area

A handful of photographs and a postcode is the fastest way to a quote. Send them through the quote form, or phone 01277 525 020 or use the quote form to discuss it first.
