Need floor joint sealing in Palestine?

Photos, a specification or a quick description of the joints is enough to start a fixed quote.

Where floor joints take the most wear near Palestine

The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK. Even so, yard and car park joints are only sealed when they’re dry and clean, and where de-icing salt is spread in winter, open joints let it in. Palestine lies roughly 70 miles out from central London. The roads out of London are lined with trade parks and distribution sheds.

For a school such as Grateley Primary School, playground and building joints can be done in the holidays. For floors and slabs around Palestine, the product is chosen for the traffic and the movement at each joint.

Palestine is in Hampshire. Our applicators travel to Palestine for work on floor joints. 723 places across Hampshire fall within our area, Palestine among them. For work in that direction, see our Southampton page (20 miles or so).

Work on floor joints is covered throughout SP11, whatever the building. For a building on Station Road, Streetway Road and Campbell Close or nearby, we can quote for floor joints. Close to Palestine, our area also takes in Grateley (1 mile north-east), Quarley (2 miles north), Over Wallop (2 miles south-east), Fox (2 miles north-east) and Kentsboro (3 miles east). A short drive away, we cover Winchester (15 miles south-east), Andover (7 miles north-east), Romsey (14 miles south-east), Hyde (15 miles south-east), Tidworth (5 miles north) and Weeke (14 miles south-east).

Around Palestine

There’s a railway station in Palestine itself: Grateley station. Not far away are Quarley Hill and Winterbourne Downs RSPB reserve.

Floor joint sealing in Palestine

Forklifts and pallet trucks are hard on open joints. Every pass chips at the bare concrete edge until a crisp saw cut becomes a wide, broken groove. A properly filled joint carries the wheel over and protects both arrises. It also smooths the route for drivers and stock. If you’re dealing with brittle joint filler breaking up and unfilled floor joints collecting dirt and grit, we can help, on saw-cut induced joints, loading bays and retail and showroom floors alike. Sealant applicators who only do sealant are a different proposition from a general trade with a gun in the van: in Palestine, that means joint design, primers and backing rod as standard.

Around smaller places such as Palestine, floor joints are often in barns and farm buildings turned into workshops, stores and offices. Joints in those slabs take vehicles, trolleys and foot traffic, and need a filler or sealant to match.

Work we carry out in Hampshire comes with a 12-month guarantee. Should something we installed fail, phone 01277 525 020 or send details through our quote form and we’ll come back to it.

How a job runs

We follow your site rules from the start: signing in, inductions and any permit to work. With the paperwork done, the joints are worked through in the order agreed with your site contact. If others near Palestine need work, visits can be combined, which keeps travel down. You’ll have a fixed quote before work starts.

  1. We look at joint widths, edge condition and the traffic on each route.
  2. A fixed quote follows, listing the treatment for each area and the order of work.
  3. Old filler, debris and contamination are cut or routed out back to clean concrete.
  4. Dust is extracted from the joint and primer applied where the manufacturer specifies it.
  5. The chosen product is placed to its specified depth and trimmed level with the floor.
  6. Each phase reopens when the product is ready for wheels, then we start the next.

Getting the site ready

  • Move anything stored against the joints
  • Flag any permit to work we’ll need
  • Send your site hours and access windows

Advice

Maintenance after handover

Sealant joints are maintenance items, and how long they last depends on how they’re treated. We suggest:

  • Keep trucks off new joints until we say they’re ready
  • Tell us about strong cleaning chemicals before we quote
  • Put loading bays at the top of the list
  • Sweep debris out of open joints until they can be filled

Normal floor cleaning is fine once the product has cured. Tell us about aggressive cleaning products or hot washing at quote stage so the product suits them.

Joints are easiest to look after when someone checks them regularly. A phased plan, worst routes first, spreads the work out and keeps on top of the rest.

Palestine: questions and answers

Does a site in Palestine have to shut while its joints are sealed?

Rarely. Work is phased around your operations. Tell us which hours and entrances we can use and we’ll plan from there.

Is a smaller place like Palestine outside your area?

Not at all. Palestine is within our area. London and every South East county are within our area. Good photographs up front let us bring everything on the first visit.

Are you CHAS accredited?

Yes. We’re CHAS accredited, we’re a Constructionline member and we use CSCS-carded applicators.

What information helps you price floor joint sealing?

Approximate metres of joint, photographs of typical and worst areas, and a floor plan let us give a quick quote. We can visit where that helps, and you can ring 01277 525 020 or use the quote form to arrange it.

Are you insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and the certificate can go with your quote.

Is it normal for joint filler to separate?

It can be shrinkage, contamination on the joint faces or a product unsuited to the movement. We diagnose the cause before suggesting a fix.

How do you choose the sealant?

A specification, where there is one, decides it. If there isn’t one, it comes down to the joint: how much it moves, what it bonds to and whether it’s wet, trafficked or fire-rated.

For managing agents and facilities managers

Planned maintenance programmes are welcome: resealing failed joints building by building, on a schedule that suits your budget. Palestine can form part of a wider programme across Hampshire.

Agents, factors and owners’ representatives all follow the same route: send details, get a fixed quote, we seal, guaranteed. We can agree access arrangements and keyholder contacts beforehand.

How the job changes by surface

Flexible floor sealants

A flexible sealant suits perimeter and movement joints away from the heaviest traffic. Backing rod limits how deep the bead goes and keeps it off the joint bottom.

Retail and showroom floors

Retail work is phased around trading. Tell us your site hours and access windows and we will plan around them.

Honest limits

Before quoting, we check that sealant is the right answer. It isn’t the answer for:

  • Wide or random cracking that suggests a structural issue
  • Joint edges that have already broken away, which need repairing before filling (we’ll tell you if so)
  • Level or flatness problems across the floor

Not sure which it is? You can call 01277 525 020 or send details through our quote form and we’ll tell you honestly.

Where we work in Palestine

  • Saw-cut induced joints
  • Retail and showroom floors
  • Loading bays
  • Forklift and pallet-truck routes
  • Joints along racking aisles
  • Construction joints

When to bring in a specialist

What you see is the finished bead, but most of the work is hidden. Correct depth, the right primer and a sealant matched to the movement are easy to get wrong without experience.

There’s also the paperwork. Many sites expect CSCS cards, RAMS and proof of insurance, and we will confirm the paperwork you need with the quote.
