Construction mastic for businesses in Cornhill

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

Construction mastic in Cornhill, done properly

Most of the packages we price run well beyond frames: frame perimeters inside and out, caulking to trims and boards where the specification calls for it, sanitary silicone, kitchens, and the final snag list. Splitting those between trades often leaves gaps in responsibility, and one applicator team gives a consistent finish. If you have different trades sealing to different standards and perimeter gaps outside the sealant’s range, we can put it right, whatever the surface. Sealant applicators who only do sealant are a different proposition from a general trade with a gun in the van: in Cornhill, that means joint design, primers and backing rod as standard.

City-centre sites in Scotland normally mean booked deliveries, tight storage and shared access. Our CSCS-carded applicators work to the site induction, the programme and the sequence of trades.

Every job ends the same way: guaranteed. Our workmanship is backed for 12 months, and the quote explains what it covers.

Maintenance after handover

Regular inspection catches problems early. Specifically:

  • Use the product the specification names
  • Plan external elevations with the weather in mind
  • Bring the mastic contractor in after the last trades are through
  • Protect sealed areas from following trades

Brief the sparkle clean so they don’t scrape the new joints. Blades and abrasive pads are the commonest cause of damage at the final clean.

Oversized gaps are a problem better caught early. Sealant stretched over an oversized gap won’t last so packing or adjustment by the installer comes first. We raise them during our first walk of the area.

Cornhill: questions and answers

Do you take on work at healthcare sites like Royal Cornhill Hospital?

Yes. We work in healthcare settings as well as offices and schools. We follow the site’s permits, sign-in and infection-control procedures in every area.

Is Kittybrewster Shopping Centre, near Cornhill, within your area?

Yes. We cover Cornhill and the area around it, including industrial estates, business parks and retail parks such as Kittybrewster Shopping Centre. To start, just give us a call on 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings with the unit, the joints involved and your access times.

Do you take on multi-site work?

Yes. Several buildings can share a single quote, with one point of contact across South East England, Greater London and Scotland.

What if there’s asbestos in the old mastic?

The duty to manage asbestos sits with the building’s dutyholder, so for older buildings we ask for the asbestos register first. Work pauses if suspect material is found, until it has been tested.

Can you work plot by plot or floor by floor?

We work to your programme. Tell us the sequence and we’ll plan applicators around it, sealing as areas become ready.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and the certificate can go with your quote.

Can you follow the specification on our project?

Yes. The specification and the manufacturer’s installation guidance are what we work to, and any queries are raised before we start.

Honest limits

A few problems need another trade or a different fix, and we say so rather than covering them up:

  • Joint design decisions that belong to the architect or engineer
  • Faulty frames rather than failed sealant
  • Oversized gaps that need packing or adjustment by others

Not sure which it is? You can ring 01277 525 020 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Sanitary and kitchen joints
  • Window and door perimeters
  • Cladding and panel joints
  • Internal decorators’ caulk
  • Brick and block movement joints
  • Floor and skirting junctions

Contractors’ notes for Cornhill

Cornhill lies within about 3 miles of the sea. Coastal exposure means perimeter and cladding joints work harder than on an inland job, and the sealant, primer and backing need choosing with that in mind. There are plenty of hotels within about 2 miles of Cornhill. Hotel extensions and refits normally have to fit around bookings, so mastic dates are tight.

On a campus such as University of Aberdeen - Foresterhill Campus, under half a mile to the south of Cornhill, new teaching buildings and residences are usually built and refurbished around the academic year. New units and refits on sites such as Kittybrewster Shopping Centre, 0.7 miles to the east of Cornhill, need their panel and perimeter joints sealed to the specification. School extensions, at buildings such as Northfield Academy, usually run to the summer holidays, mastic included.

Cornhill is about 1 mile north-west of Aberdeen, in Aberdeen. We send applicators to Cornhill for mastic packages, handled exactly as we handle every other area. Our Aberdeen coverage takes in 40 places.

We cover the AB16, AB25 and AB24 postcode districts for mastic packages. Among the streets we cover are Rowan Road, Morgan Road and Cairncry Road, and sites on any of them can send details for a fixed quote. Main routes into Cornhill include the A92, useful when we plan access and materials. Just outside Cornhill, we also work in Cummings Park (1 mile north-west), Aberdeen (1 mile south-east), Midstocket (1 mile south), Berryden (1 mile east) and Rosemount (1 mile south-east). Bigger towns within reach include Dyce (4 miles north-west), Cults (3 miles south-west), Cove Bay (4 miles south-east), Torry (3 miles south-east), Peterculter (6 miles south-west) and Garthdee (3 miles south).

Near you in Cornhill

Locally, jobs take us to sites close to Oakbank School, Gilcomstoun Primary School and Stewart Park, among other places. The nearest railway station is Aberdeen station, about 1.8 miles south-east of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include King's Museum (1.3 miles north-east) and Cowdray Medical Pavilion (less than half a mile south). For a walk, there’s Rubislaw Quarry and Gallows Hill.

Doing it in-house

Using site staff can make sense for a small touch-up, but anything bigger is another matter: a specialist works through quantities efficiently, leaves a consistent finish and backs it with a 12-month guarantee.

Paperwork matters too. Many sites expect CSCS cards, RAMS and proof of insurance, and we will confirm the paperwork you need with the quote.

How a job runs

Diagnose, treat, sign off: that’s the shape of every visit. We inspect the joints and confirm what’s in scope, then we prepare and seal each joint with the specified product, and the job ends with a walk round and sign-off. For premises in Cornhill, tell us about access times, shared entrances and any building rules, so the work can be phased and areas kept in use.

  1. We price from the drawings, specification and programme you send.
  2. A fixed quote sets out the scope, the products and the sequence.
  3. Any site paperwork you need (RAMS, insurance certificate, CSCS details) is confirmed with the quote.
  4. Work follows the programme, area by area, as rooms and elevations become ready.
  5. Every joint is prepared, set to depth and sealed with the specified product.
  6. We close out snagging and hand over with a 12-month guarantee.

What we need from you

  • Send any specification or drawings in advance
  • Point out parking and an unloading spot
  • Move anything stored against the joints

What happens if it’s left?

A quick bead over a damaged joint can get an area past inspection, but it won’t last. Sealant can’t grip a contaminated or existing bead and the defect reappears in the defects period. Damaged joints are removed and resealed from clean faces. In a Scottish city, access often needs scaffold, permits or factor approval, so deal with all failing joints while access is up.

The price depends on the quantity of joints, what has to come out first and the access. Call for a fixed quote once you have the details.
