What the job involves on each surface

Brick and masonry

Movement joints in brickwork are long and visible. A well-chosen colour helps them blend in.

Hotel interiors

Phased resealing lets rooms go back into use quickly. Tell us your site hours and access windows and we will plan around them with areas kept in use.

About our coloured sealant in Tobermory

We take on colour-matched work across new fit-outs, refurbishments and resealing of existing joints. On resealing, matching the existing colour is often as important as the seal itself, especially on a listed or high-profile elevation. If you have colour changes after a rebrand or refit and untidy coloured beads with ragged edges, we can put it right, on powder-coated and anodised frames, office fit-out finishes and shop-fit joinery and counters alike. Whether you call it commercial sealant work, mastic application or joint sealing, the work in Tobermory is the same: failed joints cut out, faces prepared and the right sealant laid to the right depth.

In smaller Scottish places like Tobermory, commercial buildings are often hotels, pubs, shops, schools, surgeries and farm or estate buildings put to new use. Their kitchens, washrooms and window perimeters all need joints that keep water out.

Our 12-month guarantee is about workmanship, not wear and tear. How long a sealant joint lasts depends on movement, exposure, cleaning and use, so we are clear about what is covered before work starts.

What sealant work can’t fix

Our job is the joint, not everything around it. On its own, sealant can’t deal with:

  • A guaranteed perfect match to every finish
  • Restoring stained stone or masonry next to old sealant
  • Colour variation across natural stone or brick that no single shade can match

If in doubt, call the office on 01277 525 020 or send photos by email and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we seal

  • Powder-coated and anodised frames
  • Cladding panels
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Shop-fit joinery and counters

How a job runs

At the end of each section, the masking comes off, the area is cleaned and every joint is checked, ready for your sign-off. If an area should be left alone while the sealant cures, we say how long and put signs out. For work around Tobermory, we aim for one trip, which is why we ask for photographs and a full list first. Outside work also needs a suitable weather window.

  1. The sealant type is chosen for the joint first, then the colour.
  2. We compare your RAL reference or sample with the colours made for that sealant.
  3. Where colour is critical, a sample bead can be agreed in a discreet spot.
  4. We take out the existing bead, clean the joints and fit backing.
  5. We apply the agreed colour and tool it neatly, with masking where the finish needs it.

Preparing the site

  • For older buildings, check the asbestos register before work
  • Warn occupants and staff about the work
  • Explain the parking and delivery arrangements

Advice

Coloured sealant in Tobermory: the local picture

Tobermory sits close to the coast, within about 1 mile. For shops, hotels and offices, that means frontage and frame joints that weather faster than they would inland. A matched colour is only half the brief on an exposed frontage. A number of hotels sit less than 2 miles from Tobermory. In hotels, sealant shows everywhere, from bathroom joints to reception counters, so colour and a clean finish matter.

On estates like Baliscate Industrial Estate, 0.5 miles south of Tobermory, the office and welfare end of each unit has its own sealant to maintain. Refits at hotels like Highland Cottage Hotel, under half a mile south of Tobermory, bring joints at vanity tops, bars and reception desks that guests see every day.

Tobermory is in Argyll and Bute. Looking for coloured sealant in Tobermory? We can help, as we do across Argyll and Bute. We work across 124 places in Argyll and Bute, from busy centres to rural villages.

Commercial sites across PA75 are covered for colour-matched joints. Among the streets we cover are Main Street, Breadalbane Street and Albert Street, and sites on any of them can send details for a fixed quote. You’ll find Tobermory on or near the A848 and B882. Just outside Tobermory, we also work in Baliscate (1 mile south), Kilchoan (5 miles north), Ballygown (9 miles south-west), Salen (9 miles south-east) and Lochaline (13 miles south-east). Island and remote sites need extra planning, with travel, ferry crossings where needed and weather to allow for, so mention the location when you phone 01277 525 020 or email drawings and photos.

Why deal with it now?

It’s far cheaper to approve a sample than to strip and redo a full run. A short trial bead costs very little compared with replacing joints in the wrong colour. In Scotland, wind-driven rain finds a failed joint quickly, and for a smaller place like Tobermory, a repair visit takes planning, so it’s better to act early.

There’s no price list, since every building and every scope is different. For a fixed figure, call for a quote and we’ll price your job on its own details.

FAQs: Tobermory

Does a coastal location like Tobermory affect which sealant is used?

It can. Wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt air are harder on external joints. We choose the product for the exposure, prime where the manufacturer requires it and size the joint for its movement.

Does your area include sites such as Baliscate Industrial Estate, near Tobermory?

Yes. Estates, retail parks and business parks around Tobermory, Baliscate Industrial Estate among them, are all within reach. A few photos and the unit address let us price the work.

Can staff carry on working while you are here?

Yes, as long as we plan it. We agree a sequence with your contact so just one area at a time is disrupted.

How do we ask for a quote?

The quote form is the simplest route, though you can also give us a call on 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings. Include photographs or drawings if you have them.

What hours do you work?

Give us your site hours and any access windows in your enquiry, and we’ll schedule the work to suit. You can reach the office between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

What site paperwork can you supply?

Tell us what site paperwork you need (RAMS, insurance certificate, CSCS details) and we will confirm with the quote.

Are your applicators CSCS-carded?

Yes. We use CSCS-carded applicators, which many sites require.

Commercial clients in Tobermory

For main contractors, we work as the sealant subcontractor, on new build and refurbishment alike. We work to your programme, your specification and your site rules, and our applicators hold CSCS cards.

We work for building owners and managing agents on sealant work across single buildings or whole portfolios around Tobermory. One quote can cover more than one site, so there’s one set of paperwork to deal with.

Doing it in-house

Some joints are best left to specialists: fire-rated seals that must follow a tested detail, trafficked floor joints and external movement joints among them. Getting these wrong typically costs more in the end than doing them right.

For a quick touch-up, site staff may be fine, but larger jobs are different: a specialist brings efficiency, a consistent finish and a 12-month guarantee.
