Coloured sealant in Laide

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

How the quote is worked out

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The product specified
  • Joint width, depth and condition
  • The site’s rules and procedures
  • Whether old sealant has to be cut out first

Small jobs and large programmes are priced from the same things: what’s in scope, how we reach it, what’s specified and when it needs doing. Call for a quote and we’ll put a fixed figure on it.

Sending details for a quote

A few photos plus some basic facts will normally do. It helps to include:

  • Where the site is, with the postcode
  • The type of building and who uses it
  • Any specification or named product
  • Asbestos survey details if the building is older

Photos, drawings or a schedule of the joints and a fixed quote comes back to you. Where a site visit makes more sense, we will arrange one.

Coloured sealant for commercial buildings in Laide

A coloured bead has to perform like any other sealant. Faces are prepared, depth is fixed with rod and the bead is tooled onto two sides only, exactly as for a standard colour. Clean masking and steady tooling give the sharp lines colour work needs. Most enquiries involve fit-outs with a sealant colour in the specification and stained or mouldy coloured joints in washrooms, across office fit-out finishes, shop-fit joinery and counters and natural stone and brick. Most enquiries from Laide start with one failed joint and grow into a wider look at the building: we check the joints around it and give you an honest view of what needs doing now and what can wait.

Travel to smaller places such as Laide is planned so the whole job is finished in one visit where possible: send photographs and a complete list so the right products and colours come on the day. Several jobs nearby can also be put together.

The 12-month guarantee is for workmanship rather than wear and tear. How long a sealant joint lasts depends on movement, exposure, cleaning and use, so we are clear about what is covered before work starts.

What sealant work can’t fix

A few problems need another trade or a different fix, and we say so rather than covering them up:

  • Cleaning or repairing the surrounding finishes
  • Finishes that change colour from one area to another
  • A colour that never alters with age

If in doubt, phone 01277 525 020 or send details through our quote form and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we seal

  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Cladding panels
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Powder-coated and anodised frames

From enquiry to sign-off

Diagnose, treat, sign off: every visit follows that pattern. First comes an inspection and agreement on scope, then we prepare and seal each joint with the specified product, and we finish with a walk round so the work can be signed off. For work around Laide, we aim for one trip, which is why we ask for photos and a full list first. External joints need a dry spell as well.

  1. We confirm the joint type and the product it needs.
  2. We compare the target colour with the colours available.
  3. The nearest colour is agreed, with a sample bead where needed.
  4. The existing bead comes out, then faces are cleaned and backed.
  5. Edges are masked and the coloured sealant applied and tooled.
  6. We remove the masking and walk the finished joints with you.

What we need from you

  • Agree which areas must stay open
  • Send asbestos survey details if the building is pre-2000
  • Share your working hours and any access restrictions

Advice

Questions about Laide

Can you supply sealant in our brand colour for a site in Laide?

Yes, we can typically get close to most finishes from the product’s colour range. Send colour references or photos and we will confirm what’s available for the product.

Is a smaller place like Laide outside your area?

Not at all: smaller places are covered as well as towns. Every Scottish council area is within our area. Good photographs up front let us bring everything on the first visit.

Are you CHAS accredited and on Constructionline?

Yes. We are CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member, which helps with supplier vetting.

How soon can the area be used again?

The product and site conditions decide that. Some products skin over quickly but need longer to cure fully, so we’ll confirm the curing time on the day.

Are your applicators CSCS-carded?

Yes. If you need card details for site access, tell us and we will confirm them with the quote.

Does the weather affect the work?

Outside, yes. The joint has to be dry and within the product’s temperature range, so frost, rain or cold mornings can delay outside work. Internal work is rarely affected.

Can you work while the building is occupied?

Normally, yes. Phased work can be planned so areas stay in use.

Coloured sealant in Laide: the local picture

Laide lies within about 1 mile of the sea. Exposed frontages near the sea are hard on sealant, so the product has to suit the weather as well as the look. A matched colour is only half the brief on an exposed frontage. The west of Scotland, where Laide is, gets more rain than the east. External joints are sealed on dry days, with some flexibility in the dates.

Colour matters on frontages and fit-outs, so the quote confirms which colours the chosen product comes in. For any commercial premises in Laide, a lasting joint depends on full removal of the old sealant and clean, dry faces.

Laide is in Highland. We send applicators to Laide for colour-matched joints. Our Highland coverage takes in 256 places, large and small.

Doing it in-house

General builders and handymen seal joints, but it isn’t their main trade. A specialist brings correct preparation, depth control with backing rod and a product suited to that particular joint, which is what makes a joint last.

Using site staff can make sense for a small touch-up, but larger jobs are different: a specialist brings efficiency, a consistent finish and a 12-month guarantee.

Leave it or put it right?

Across a chain of shops or hotels, consistency matters. Setting one product and colour for every site avoids variation. Buildings that aren’t in daily use, such as halls and seasonal premises, may let water in unnoticed, so a failed joint has time to cause damage. Resealing early avoids that.

The specified product makes a difference, and so does the preparation. Access, phasing and site rules also count.

Why us?

  • 12 months’ guarantee on every job
  • CSCS-carded applicators
  • Products installed to the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Coloured sealants to suit the setting, where available

How the job changes by surface

Brick and masonry

Brickwork joints typically look best in a colour close to the mortar or brick. The nearest colour in the range is agreed with you before work starts.

Natural stone

Sandstone, limestone and granite each have distinct tones. Colour is agreed on site where possible.
