Coloured sealant for businesses in Arisaig

Quoting for work in Arisaig

Before we quote, we look at:

  • Joint width, depth and condition
  • The total length or number of joints
  • Which sealant the job calls for
  • How accessible the joints are

Access often affects the price as much as the sealing: joints within easy reach take less time than ones that need access equipment. Tell us how the joints are reached and call for a quote.

Sending details for a quote

Whether it’s one area or a whole building, these details speed things up:

  • Access details, including height
  • Asbestos survey details if the building is older
  • Approximate linear metres or a joint schedule
  • Any dates the work must fit around

Send us photographs, drawings or a joint schedule and a fixed quote comes back to you. Where a site visit makes more sense, we’ll arrange one.

Coloured sealant in Arisaig, done properly

A colour-matched bead still has to work as a seal. Faces are prepared, depth is fixed with rod and the bead is tooled onto two sides only, exactly as for a standard colour. Careful masking keeps the edges crisp. Site teams most often ask us about discoloured joints on a visible elevation and standard-colour sealant spoiling a high-end finish, across natural stone and brick, office fit-out finishes and cladding panels. Looking for mastic applicators who cover Arisaig? We’ve been sealing commercial buildings since 2005, CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member.

Scottish weather decides a lot about outside work in a place like Arisaig: sealant needs a dry joint and the right temperature, so external work has a weather window built in. Indoor work isn’t held up by rain.

Building owners and contractors get the same cover: a 12-month guarantee on our workmanship. It doesn’t extend to damage, faults in the building or work by others, and we are upfront about that.

Aftercare for building managers

Cleaning and maintenance staff play a part too. Share these points with them:

  • Put the colour reference on the finishes schedule
  • Record the product and colour reference on the building file
  • Look at the cured colour before the full run
  • Insist on the agreed colour for any repair

Use gentle cleaning methods on coloured sealant. Harsh chemicals and scouring can change how the colour looks over time.

Approve a sample where colour really matters. Seeing the cured colour in place avoids surprises.

Coloured sealant in Arisaig: the local picture

With the shore within about 1 mile, Arisaig counts as a coastal location. Shopfronts, frames and external joints on commercial buildings there take wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt in the air. Where a frontage needs a particular colour, the product still has to suit that exposure. The west of Scotland, where Arisaig is, gets more rain than the east. External joints are sealed on dry days, with some flexibility in the dates. Shopfronts and frames facing the prevailing weather are where failures show first

Shops and cafés around stations like Arisaig station (under half a mile east of Arisaig) trade from early, so work is timed around them. In hotels such as Arisaig Hotel (under half a mile south-west of Arisaig), refurbishments usually mean bathroom, bar and reception joints where a matched sealant colour has to sit with the finishes.

Arisaig (Gaelic: Àrasaig) is in Highland. Commercial clients in Arisaig use us for work on colour-matched joints, as part of our coverage of Highland. We work across 256 places in Highland, large and small.

We take on colour-matched joints across the PH39 postcode area, for business premises of every kind. For a building on Station Road, Creag Mhor Gardens and Canon Gillies or nearby, we can quote for colour-matched joints. Nearby places we also cover include Glenancross (3 miles north), Morar (4 miles north), Mallaig (7 miles north), Ardvasar (10 miles north) and Armadale (11 miles north) for colour-matched joints. Remote and island addresses take more planning, from travel and ferries to the weather, so give the site location in your enquiry.

What the job involves on each surface

Hotel interiors

Phased work can be planned so areas stay in use. Tell us your site hours and access windows and we’ll plan around them with areas kept in use.

Cladding panels

Panel joints form a grid on the facade, so colour matters. The colour is picked from the range of a sealant that suits the panel joint, rated for the joint’s movement.

What happens if it’s left?

A failed joint lets in water and dirt, whatever colour it is. Water through a split seal can stain or damage the surfaces next to it, so it’s worth fixing early. Around smaller places like Arisaig, halls, stores and seasonal buildings may not be checked often, giving water time to get in. Resealing early avoids that.

The specified product makes a difference, as does the preparation each joint needs, from cutting out to priming and backing rod. Access, phasing and site rules also count.

Why appoint us

What we can’t put right

We check first that sealant really is the fix. It won’t put right:

  • Custom-mixed sealant colours
  • Materials with mixed tones that defy a single match
  • A colour that never alters with age

If in doubt, phone 01277 525 020 or send photos by email and we’ll say what we think.

What we seal

  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Powder-coated and anodised frames
  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Cladding panels

How a job runs

Site rules come first: signing in, inductions and any permit to work. Once we’re cleared to begin, the joints are worked through in the order agreed with your site contact, and each area is checked before we leave it. Where we can, we combine work around Arisaig with other jobs nearby. Let us know if your dates have any give.

  1. First we agree which sealant type the joint needs.
  2. Your RAL reference, sample or photo is checked against that product’s colours.
  3. The nearest colour is agreed, with a sample bead where needed.
  4. We cut out the existing bead, clean and set the depth.
  5. We mask, seal and tool to a clean line.
  6. Masking comes off and the work is checked with you.

What we need from you

  • Flag any permit to work we’ll need
  • Explain the parking and delivery arrangements
  • Send asbestos survey details if the building is pre-2000

Your questions answered

Is Arisaig too far out for you?

Not at all: smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of Scotland. Send photos and a list of what needs doing, and we will plan the job to need as few trips as possible.

Can being near the sea in Arisaig affect the sealant we need?

It can, yes: buildings near the sea take more wind-driven rain, and salt in the air nearer the shore. We check the specified product suits the exposure and pay close attention to preparation.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, including public liability cover.

Are your applicators CSCS-carded?

Yes. Should the site need card details in advance, let us know and we’ll send them with the quote.

How much does the work cost?

We don’t publish prices, as every site differs. With photos or drawings, we can give you a fixed quote.

Is it fine to apply new sealant on top of old?

No. Failed sealant is removed and the faces cleaned back to sound, dry material first, since fresh sealant will not bond reliably to aged material.

Can you seal to a brand colour across several sites?

Yes. You can call 01277 525 020 or use the quote form with the colour reference. Tell us your site hours and access windows and we will plan around them.
