Need floor joint sealing in Wimbledon Chase?

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

Floor joint sealing in Wimbledon Chase, done properly

We diagnose the floor first rather than guessing at a product: joint widths, whether the joints are still opening, what runs over them and how the edges have held up. From that we choose between a semi-rigid filler and a more flexible sealant and the answer can differ from one zone to the next. Site teams most often ask us about trucks and loads jolting over damaged joints and untidy open joints in a retail unit, on retail and showroom floors, forklift and pallet-truck routes and joints along racking aisles. A single leaking joint is often how a building in Wimbledon Chase first comes to us: we look at the rest while we are there and tell you what we find.

London’s floor joints are concentrated in warehouses and trade units, car parks, podiums and decks. In Wimbledon Chase, as everywhere in London, access, loading and the ULEZ all come into the plan.

What our 12-month guarantee covers is the way we did the job: the preparation, the sealing and the tooling. It doesn’t extend to damage, other trades’ later work or movement the joint was never designed to take.

When it isn’t the sealant

Sealant solves a lot, but not everything, and we’d rather tell you before you spend money. These need a different solution:

  • Slab panels that rock or move under load
  • Uneven floors that need grinding or levelling
  • Worn screed or surface finishes

If in doubt, call the office on 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings and we’ll say what we think.

What we seal

  • Forklift and pallet-truck routes
  • Saw-cut induced joints
  • Loading bays
  • Retail and showroom floors
  • Joints along racking aisles
  • Construction joints

From enquiry to sign-off

We begin with a short walk round with whoever looks after the building, to confirm the scope, the order of work and any areas we must keep clear. Then we strip out anything that has failed, prepare every joint and seal it. Planning a London job such as one in Wimbledon Chase starts with access: booked loading, goods lifts, the building’s permit system and a spot to keep materials. Give us the hours we can be on site and we will schedule to suit.

  1. A floor survey records every joint, its edges and what crosses it.
  2. The treatment and the zones are set out in a fixed quote.
  3. Each joint is cut or routed back to clean, sound concrete.
  4. We extract the dust and prime the faces if the product needs it.
  5. Filler or sealant is placed to depth and finished flush.
  6. We hand each phase back when it can take traffic.

What we need from you

  • Send asbestos survey details if the building is pre-2000
  • Make sure the joints can be reached
  • Point out parking and an unloading spot

Questions we are asked in Wimbledon Chase

Do you work in London buildings with loading restrictions?

Yes, most London buildings have access rules of some kind, and we plan around them. Send the building rules and access times with your enquiry. All of Greater London is inside the ULEZ, and our planning allows for it

Would you work within a site like New Victoria Hospital?

Yes, healthcare and care buildings are part of our work. The estates team’s permit system and infection-control rules come first, and the work is planned around them.

Who decides which product is used?

Where there’s a specification, we use the product it names. Otherwise, we recommend a product to suit the joint’s movement, the substrate and the conditions, following the manufacturer’s guidance.

Can weather delay the job?

It can, when the joints are outside. Sealant won’t bond properly to a wet or frosty joint, so we watch the forecast and rearrange outside work if we have to. Internal work is far less affected.

How long before trucks can use the joints?

Each product has its own cure time and cooler floors take longer. Phasing is planned with that in mind.

Can you follow the specification on our project?

Yes. Send it with your enquiry, and we’ll price the work to it, flagging anything that needs clarifying.

Do you hold CHAS accreditation?

Yes. Mastic Doctor is CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member.

Why it’s worth doing now in Wimbledon Chase

Duct tape or a general builders’ sealant can seem to buy some time. Neither is made to carry wheels and traffic soon pulls it out. A product chosen for the traffic and movement does the job once. Failed sealant in a building in Wimbledon Chase can quickly affect neighbours, tenants or the floor below: water travels through shared structures, and a small leak becomes a dispute between occupiers. Dealing with it early is simpler for everyone.

Access can matter as much as the joints themselves: easy-to-reach joints are quicker than those that need equipment to get to. Tell us how the joints are reached and call for a quote.

How the job changes by surface

Saw-cut induced joints

Induced joints are sawn into a new slab to control where it cracks. They are narrow but open up as the panels shrink, and on truck routes they need a filler that supports the edges.

Loading bays and dock areas

Joints at dock doors need a product that copes with the traffic and the conditions. Curing times also have to fit around deliveries.

Maintenance after handover

A few simple habits keep the new joints working:

  • Record damaged joints with a photo and a location
  • Keep trucks off new joints until we say they’re ready
  • Sweep debris out of open joints until they can be filled
  • Start with the dock areas, where joints fail soonest

Keep traffic off fresh joints until the time we give you and it pays to stick to it. Cones or barriers stop the first driver cutting the corner.

Every vehicle on a busy aisle hits a damaged joint. Early treatment protects wheels, loads and drivers as much as the floor.
