Facade sealing for businesses in The Frenches
Photos, a specification or a quick description of the joints is enough to start a fixed quote.
What affects the price in The Frenches
Each job is priced on its own details. The things that drive the figure:
- Joint width, depth and condition
- Location, for remote and island sites
- Which sealant the job calls for
- The site’s rules and procedures
Cost follows what’s involved: removing old material, preparing the joints, the product, the access and how the work is phased. Call for a quote and we’ll explain how it’s made up.
What we need to price the job
There’s no need for a formal survey. A few details are enough to get going:
- What the building is and how it’s used
- Any dates the work must fit around
- How the joints are reached, and at what height
- Approximate linear metres or a joint schedule
To get a fixed quote, call 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings. You can also send details through our quote form.
How we handle facade sealing in The Frenches
Facade sealants sit in the sun, rain and frost every day. Life depends on movement, weathering, product choice and the quality of the original work. When the time comes, we cut the old sealant out completely and start again. The enquiries we see most involve air leaks through failed facade joints and perimeter sealant that has split or peeled away, across cladding panel joints, shopfront frames and perimeter joints where frames meet the structure. Most enquiries from The Frenches start with one failed joint and grow into a wider look at the building: we check the joints around it and give you an honest view of what needs doing now and what can wait.
Around smaller places like The Frenches, building work normally means conversions of farm buildings, a few new houses or an extension to a hall or school. Perimeters, facade joints and internal sealant all need doing properly, however small the scheme.
A 12-month guarantee applies to all our work. Should something we installed fail, call 01277 525 020 or email drawings and photos and we’ll come back to it.

When it isn’t the sealant
A few problems need another trade or a different fix, and we point that out rather than sealing over them:
- Render or concrete edges that have broken away
- Movement beyond what any sealant can handle
- Replacing glass or failed glazing units

Your questions answered
Can you work on a hospital site such as Romsey Community Hospital?
Yes. Healthcare sites are among the places we work. Each area is agreed with the ward or department and the estates team in advance.
Is The Frenches too small for you to travel to?
No. Places such as The Frenches are covered as much as the big towns. We work across Greater London and the South East. We plan jobs in smaller places so return trips are kept to a minimum.
Do you run new sealant over the existing bead?
No. A bead run over old sealant soon lifts. Our method is a full cut-out, cleaning, backing and a new bead.
Can the sealant be colour-matched?
In many cases, yes. Many products come in a range of standard colours, and matching to RAL references or surrounding finishes is often possible. We confirm what’s available for the specified product when we quote.
What site paperwork can you supply?
Each site asks for different documents, so list what you need, whether RAMS, insurance or CSCS details, and we will confirm with the quote.
Do you take on small jobs?
Whatever the size, the process is the same: send details, get a fixed quote, we seal, guaranteed.
How do we ask for a quote?
It works in four steps: send details, get a quote, we seal, guaranteed. The first step only needs photos and a postcode.
Our process
Working in a building that stays open takes some planning. We sign and contain the area we are in, with routes through the building left open and work section by section so the rest of the building stays in use. For a building around The Frenches, tell us how to find it and who will meet us. Add it to your enquiry and we will build it into the plan.
- Photos, drawings or a visit tell us about the joints and the access.
- We confirm the joint type, movement and the specified product.
- The existing bead comes out in full and both faces cleaned back.
- Primer goes on where the product data asks for it.
- Backing rod is fitted and the new sealant gunned in and tooled.
- We go over the completed work with you before leaving.
What we need from you
- Agree which areas must stay open
- Let us know about inductions and permits
- Make sure the joints can be reached

Specifications, drawings and tender packages are welcome with any enquiry, and we’ll price the work to it. For smaller jobs, photos and a description will do.

Aftercare for building managers
For the best life from the joints:
- Never let anyone seal over old sealant
- Confirm the survey covers external sealants in older buildings
- Check that rainwater leaves the facade the way it was designed to
- Add perimeter sealant to planned maintenance checks
Look at perimeter and panel joints as part of routine building checks. Watch for splits, gaps at the edges, hardening and discolouration; record the locations.
In pre-2000 buildings, check the asbestos register before old sealant is cut out. Some older mastics contain it, and if it’s suspected, we stop until it has been tested.
Sites and facades in and around The Frenches
The Frenches sits in one of the drier corners of the country, the South East. Still, external mastic needs dry faces within the maker’s temperature limits, which isn’t every day, so external mastic is timed for workable conditions and agreed with the site manager.
Older buildings in the area around The Frenches, such as Mottisfont Abbey, 3.1 miles north of The Frenches, need care when sealed: the product has to suit soft or historic materials. For contractors refurbishing units at places like Gardeners Business Park, which lies south-west of The Frenches, the mastic covers cladding panels, roller-door and window perimeters. Extensions at sites like Romsey Community Hospital, 3.4 miles to the east of The Frenches, normally sit beside working departments, and the mastic follows strict access rules.
The Frenches is about 3 miles west of Romsey, in Hampshire. The Frenches sits inside our coverage and the rest of Hampshire, and jobs here get the same fixed quote and 12-month guarantee as anywhere else. The Frenches is one of 723 places in Hampshire on our list. For work in that direction, see our Southampton page (9 miles or so).

Site staff or a sealant specialist?
Putting right a botched joint often costs more than sealing it well at the start, since all of it has to come out and the faces be cleaned back again. That’s why many clients bring in a specialist from the beginning.
Paperwork matters too. Many sites expect CSCS cards, RAMS and proof of insurance, and our CSCS-carded applicators are used to working under those rules.
Surface by surface
Window and door perimeters
Frame materials vary, and so does the preparation. We clean and prime to the sealant maker’s guidance for each surface.
Precast concrete panels
Precast panel joints have to absorb thermal and structural movement. We use a sealant with the right movement capability, set over backing rod.
