What Glasgow’s businesses ask us to seal
The 3 miles around Glasgow take in at least three named trading estates, business parks or retail parks. Each new occupier on a park like these tends to refit, from reception to staff kitchen; brand colours often come into it. Four care or nursing homes sit less than 2 miles from Glasgow. Kitchens and communal rooms in care settings are cleaned constantly, so their joints need to be smooth and sound; colours can be chosen to suit the interior.
For a hotel such as Glasgow Argyle Hotel (under half a mile north-east of Glasgow), the colour of a joint at the bar or the bath matters to the look of the room. On estates like Kingston Bridge Trading Estate, which lies south-west of Glasgow, the office and welfare end of each unit has its own sealant to maintain. For a shop at a centre such as Princes Square (0.8 miles east of Glasgow), tidy joints at counters and displays matter as much as the fixtures.

Coloured sealant in Glasgow, done properly
Architects, designers and brand teams often specify the sealant colour as carefully as the finishes around it. Most sealant types are made in a broad range of standard colours, so we check what the specified product is made in before we quote. An exact bespoke match can’t always be promised, so we talk you through the nearest colours. We work on powder-coated and anodised frames, shop-fit joinery and counters and cladding panels, and the usual reasons a site gets in touch are joints that need to match a new RAL frame colour and failed coloured sealant that has split or peeled. Searching for sealant specialists in Glasgow? We have been sealing commercial buildings since 2005, CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member.
Natural stone gives a lot of Scottish city premises their character: sandstone in most, granite in Aberdeen. Sealing against stone means a neutral-cure sealant that leaves the stone unmarked and, where the joint is seen, a colour that blends.
We stand by our work: 12 months, guaranteed. It covers how we prepared and applied the sealant.
Looking after the joints
To get the most from the new sealant:
- Use one colour standard across multi-site work
- Brief cleaners about newly sealed joints
- Put the colour reference on the finishes schedule
- Avoid abrasive pads on coloured sealant
Give the sealant its full cure time before cleaning or handling the area. Coloured sealant marks more visibly than white while it is fresh, so keep the area clear.
Settle the colour early in the project. Late decisions lead to substitutes and mismatches, so agree it with the designer at the start.
Cost factors for colour-matched joints
Quotes vary with the job. It mainly depends on:
- How accessible the joints are
- Removal of failed or old sealant
- Phasing around occupants
- Which sealant the job calls for
Quantities, awkward access and phased working all shape the price. Site requirements like inductions and permits play a part as well.
What to include in your enquiry
Diagnosis starts before we arrive. Let us know:
- The asbestos register, for older buildings
- Access details, including height
- The site address and postcode
- When you need the work done
Pricing a project or setting a maintenance budget? We’ll quote against your scope and drawings you can plan around. If you have questions first, ring 01277 525 020 or send details through our quote form.
Glasgow: questions and answers
Is Kingston Bridge Trading Estate, near Glasgow, within your area?
Yes. Estates, retail parks and business parks around Glasgow, Kingston Bridge Trading Estate among them, are all within reach. A few photos and the unit address let us price the work.
Must a hotel around Glasgow close while you work?
Almost never. The work is phased so most rooms stay available. Tell us your quiet periods and access windows and we will plan around them.
When is resealing likely to be due?
There isn’t a single answer, since movement, weather, cleaning and use all affect it. Regular inspection is the best way to catch problems early.
How do we ask for a quote?
It works in four steps: send details, get a quote, we seal, guaranteed. The first step only needs photos and a postcode.
Can staff carry on working while you’re here?
Yes, as long as we plan it. We agree a sequence with your contact so just one area at a time is disrupted.
Does coloured sealant change colour outdoors?
Some change over time is normal. How much depends on the product, the colour and the exposure, so no colour stays exactly the same for ever.
What hours do you work?
Give us your site hours and any access windows in your enquiry, and we will schedule the work to suit. You can reach the office between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
When it isn’t the sealant
Our job is the joint, not everything around it. Sealant alone won’t deal with:
- Preventing all fading from sunlight and weathering
- Repairing damaged frames or cladding
- Finishes that change colour from one area to another
If in doubt, give us a call on 01277 525 020 or send photos by email and we’ll say what we think.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Natural stone and brick
- Cladding panels
- Powder-coated and anodised frames
- Hotel bathrooms and public areas
- Office fit-out finishes
- Shop-fit joinery and counters
Site staff or a sealant specialist?
General builders and handymen seal joints, but it isn’t their main trade. A specialist prepares properly, controls joint depth and picks a product with the right movement class.
What you see is the finished bead, but most of the work is hidden. Correct depth, the right primer and a sealant matched to the movement are easy to get wrong without experience.
On site: what to expect
Before we leave any area, the masking comes off, the area is cleaned and every joint is checked, ready for your sign-off. If an area should be left alone while the sealant cures, we say how long and put signs out. For premises in Glasgow, tell us about access times, shared entrances and any building rules, and we will plan the work to suit, phased where areas need to stay in use.
- We confirm the joint type and the product it needs.
- Your RAL reference, sample or photo is checked against that product’s colours.
- The nearest colour is agreed, with a sample bead where needed.
- We cut out the existing bead, clean and set the depth.
- Edges are masked and the coloured sealant applied and tooled.
- We remove the masking and walk the finished joints with you.
Preparing the site
- Point out any areas we must not close
- Share your working hours and any access restrictions
- Have the specification and drawings to hand
Request a quote
If there’s a specification, drawings or a tender package, send it with your enquiry, and we will price against exactly what is specified. Smaller jobs need nothing more than photos and a few notes.
