Coloured sealant across Gillock

Send drawings, photos or a joint schedule, or tell us about the site, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

When to call us in Gillock

Colour-matched sealant is normally requested because a standard bead has spoiled the finish: a pale bead on a dark frame, or an old seal that has discoloured. A better-matched colour fixes the appearance without changing the joint’s job.

Clients typically get in touch after noticing one or more of the following:

  • Joints that need to match a new RAL frame colour
  • Old sealant that has yellowed, darkened or faded
  • Fit-outs with a sealant colour in the specification
  • Stained or mouldy coloured joints in washrooms

For premises near Georgemas Junction station, 3.8 miles to the west of Gillock, footfall is part of the plan: work is phased so shops and offices keep trading.

What to look for in a quote

Choosing a commercial sealant contractor

How we handle coloured sealant in Gillock

Stone, brick and cladding each bring their own colour challenge: a stone or brick facade shifts in tone from one area to the next. The aim is a sealant colour that sits comfortably against the whole surface, agreed on site where needed. If you’re dealing with smeared sealant on stone or joinery and marked sealant in hotel bathrooms, we can put it right, whatever the surface. Searching for sealant specialists in Gillock? Mastic Doctor has worked for contractors, FMs and building owners since 2005, CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member.

In smaller Scottish places like Gillock, commercial buildings are often hotels, pubs, shops, schools, surgeries and farm or estate buildings put to new use. Each has kitchens, washrooms and frames that depend on sound joints.

We stand behind the joints we seal with a 12-month guarantee. That covers our preparation and application.

Gillock: questions and answers

Is Gillock off your patch?

Not at all. Gillock is within our area. Our area covers all of Scotland, cities, towns and islands alike. Where we can, we group nearby jobs to make the most of each trip.

What documents will you need to give us for a job in Gillock?

We’ll confirm the paperwork you need, such as RAMS, our insurance certificate and CSCS details, with the quote. We hold £5m public liability insurance, are CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member, and our applicators are CSCS-carded.

Can you seal to a brand colour across several sites?

Yes. Shop fits, hotels and office fit-outs are a regular part of our work. Sites anywhere in our area, from London and the South East to Scotland, can be included, so a consistent colour can run across several sites.

What if there’s asbestos in the old mastic?

Asbestos is possible in some older mastics, particularly in buildings from before 2000. We check the asbestos register before cutting out old sealant in an older building, and work stops until any suspect material has been tested. Removing asbestos is a job for asbestos specialists, not us.

What hours do you work?

The office is staffed Monday to Friday, from 8am until 5pm. Let us know your site hours and access windows, and the work will be planned around them.

Will you come and look before quoting?

It depends on the job. Simple work can often be priced from photos, and bigger or more complex jobs normally get a visit.

Will your applicators have CSCS cards?

Yes. Our applicators hold CSCS cards.

How the quote is worked out

Sealant work doesn’t have a standard rate, because every site is different. What we take into account:

  • How much existing material needs removing
  • Access and working height
  • Whether the work must be split into stages
  • The site’s rules and procedures

Access often affects the price as much as the sealing: joints within easy reach take less time than ones that need access equipment. Tell us how the joints are reached and call for a quote.

Details that help us quote

A good diagnosis starts with the right details. Tell us:

  • Drawings or a marked-up plan, if available
  • The postcode of the building
  • How the joints are reached, and at what height
  • Specification clauses that apply

Need a figure for a tender or a budget? Send the scope and any drawings, and we’ll return a fixed quote you can plan around. If you have questions first, call the office on 01277 525 020 or use the quote form.

On site: what to expect

Occupied buildings need a little choreography. The work area is signed and kept contained, with routes through the building left open and move on in phases so staff and visitors can carry on around us. Travel to smaller Scottish places like Gillock is planned so the job is finished in one visit where possible, so photographs, sizes and a full list matter. Outside work also needs a suitable weather window.

  1. The sealant type is chosen for the joint first, then the colour.
  2. We compare your RAL reference or sample with the colours made for that sealant.
  3. A short trial length can be approved before the full run on visible work.
  4. We take out the existing bead, clean the joints and fit backing.
  5. The coloured sealant is applied and tooled with clean, masked edges.

What we need from you

  • For older buildings, check the asbestos register before work
  • Tell us your opening times and when work is allowed
  • Flag any permit to work we will need

Specifications, drawings and tender packages are welcome with any enquiry, and we will price the work to it. Smaller jobs need nothing more than photographs and a few notes.

Commercial premises in Gillock

Gillock is on Scotland’s drier eastern side. Cold, frosty mornings and condensation on steel and glass can still delay outside work. Outside work is booked with that in mind

Honest limits

Being straight saves everyone time. New sealant won’t cure:

  • Restoring stained stone or masonry next to old sealant
  • Materials with mixed tones that defy a single match
  • Preventing all fading from sunlight and weathering

If in doubt, ring 01277 525 020 or email us and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we seal

  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Powder-coated and anodised frames
  • Cladding panels
  • Natural stone and brick

Should maintenance staff do it?

Redoing a failed joint usually costs more than getting it right at the outset, because the whole bead must be removed and the faces cleaned back again. That’s why many clients bring in a specialist from the beginning.

Using site staff can make sense for a small touch-up, but larger jobs are different: a specialist brings efficiency, a consistent finish and a 12-month guarantee.
