Coloured sealant near Bassett

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

Surface by surface

Office fit-outs

In offices, sealant appears at partitions, tea points, washrooms and reception desks. A consistent colour across floors looks deliberate at handover.

Powder-coated and anodised frames

Metallic and anodised finishes are hard to match exactly with sealant. We show you the closest options in the product’s range.

About our coloured sealant in Bassett

In retail, hospitality and office fit-outs, joints are seen close up every day. A grey bead on a black shopfront or a white line against oak looks like a defect. The aim is a colour from the product’s range that disappears into the surface. If you have smeared sealant on stone or joinery and old sealant that has yellowed, darkened or faded, we can put it right, on shop-fit joinery and counters, hotel bathrooms and public areas and natural stone and brick alike. Sealant applicators who only do sealant are a different proposition from a general trade with a gun in the van: in Bassett, that means joint design, primers and backing rod as standard.

In a smaller place such as Bassett, commercial buildings are usually a mix of shops, a pub or café, a school, a surgery and perhaps a few business units. They’re not big jobs one by one, but their joints need the same preparation as anywhere.

Work we carry out comes with a 12-month guarantee. Should something we installed fail, give us a call on 01277 525 020 or send photos by email and we’ll come back to it.

FAQs: Bassett

Will our hotel in Bassett need to close for the work?

Rarely. Rooms or floors are done in turn, so the rest of the hotel keeps trading. The plan is built around your bookings.

Is Bassett too small for you to travel to?

Not at all: smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and the South East counties. Where we can, we group nearby jobs to make the most of each trip.

How long do sealant joints last?

There’s no fixed lifespan: movement, exposure, cleaning, traffic and the product all play a part. Treat them as maintenance items and inspect them regularly.

Do you take on colour-matched sealant for shop fits and multi-site roll-outs?

Yes. We work with shop fitters, hotel groups and office fit-out contractors. Sites anywhere in our area, from London and the South East to Scotland, can be included, so a consistent colour can run across several sites.

Do you work to architects’ specifications?

Yes. The specification and the manufacturer’s installation guidance are what we work to.

Does the weather affect the work?

It can, when the joints are outside. Wet joints and cold, damp or frosty conditions stop the sealant bonding properly, so external work may be moved if conditions aren’t right. Internal work is far less affected.

Can we see a sample before the full job?

Yes. A trial length can be applied and approved before the full run. Cured sealant can look slightly different from the wet bead, so it’s worth checking in real light.

What we’re called out for in Bassett

Patch repairs in a different colour are a common problem. Different products and batches used over the years leave a patchwork. Doing the full run in a single colour solves it.

Typical triggers for a call:

  • Standard-colour sealant spoiling a high-end finish
  • Stained or mouldy coloured joints in washrooms
  • Shop fits that need consistent sealant colours across sites
  • Joints that need to match a new RAL frame colour

Shops and cafés around stations like Swaythling station, 1.5 miles to the east of Bassett, trade from early, so work is timed around them.

Comparing quotes

  • Is the sealant right for the movement and the substrate?
  • Will RAMS and insurance details be available?
  • Whether old or failed sealant will be cut out, not overlaid
  • Whether their applicators hold CSCS cards

How to choose a sealant contractor

Why it’s worth doing now in Bassett

A failed joint lets in water and dirt, whatever colour it is. Behind the bead, moisture can damage substrates and finishes, so resealing protects the finishes as well as the look. A failed joint lets water into a building whatever its size. Early resealing avoids the damage that follows a leak.

The work involved drives the cost: stripping out, preparation, sealing, access and phasing. Call for a fixed quote.

Why clients in Bassett choose us

  • A range of standard colours, depending on the product
  • Our applicators hold CSCS cards
  • CHAS accredited
  • Colours chosen to suit frames, cladding or finishes where possible

Work for main contractors and building owners

Agents, factors and owners’ representatives all follow the same route: send the details, accept a fixed quote, and we carry out and guarantee the work. We can agree access arrangements and keyholder contacts beforehand.

Hospitality, education, healthcare, office and retail clients come to us directly as well. We plan around the way the building is used, so guests, pupils, patients or staff are disturbed as little as possible.

When it isn’t the sealant

We seal joints; we don’t mend everything behind them. On its own, sealant can’t deal with:

  • Materials with mixed tones that defy a single match
  • Repairing damaged frames or cladding
  • Stopping sealant from ever changing colour outdoors

If in doubt, call the office on 01277 525 020 or email drawings and photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we seal

  • Powder-coated and anodised frames
  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Cladding panels
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Office fit-out finishes

How a job runs

Before we leave any area, we remove the tape, clean down and inspect every joint. Where the sealant needs time to cure before use, we tell you and sign the area. Several jobs near Bassett can be grouped on one trip. Mention the building’s opening times and we will work within them.

  1. We start with photographs, drawings or a visit to see the finishes.
  2. We send the closest colours from the product’s range.
  3. The programme and access are agreed, including any phasing.
  4. We prepare each joint, prime where needed and fit backing.
  5. We seal in the approved colour and tool it smooth.

Before we start on site

  • Tell us what induction or permit system the site runs
  • Agree which areas must stay open
  • Clear stock, furniture or equipment away from the joints

Advice

What Bassett’s businesses ask us to seal

The sea is no more than about 3 miles from Bassett. Shopfronts, frames and external joints on commercial buildings there take wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt in the air. We choose a product rated for the exposure, then confirm the colours available for it. At least three named trading, business or retail sites lie within about 3 miles of Bassett. Units on sites like these change tenants and get refitted, and each refit leaves joints to seal, often in a colour the occupier specifies.

For a hotel such as DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Southampton (1 mile north of Bassett), the colour of a joint at the bar or the bath matters to the look of the room. A business with units at Shirley Retail Park and Northbrook Industrial Estate needn’t use two contractors for its sealant.

Bassett is about 2 miles north-west of Southampton, in Southampton. Our applicators travel to Bassett for work on colour-matched joints, handled exactly as we handle every other area. 30 places across Southampton fall within our area, including Bassett.

We take on colour-matched joints across the SO16, SO17 and SO15 postcode area. Buildings on Burgess Road, Pointout Road and Chetwynd Road are within our area. Close to Bassett, our area also takes in Highfield (1 mile south-east), Lordswood (1 mile west), Chilworth (1 mile north), Coxford (1 mile west) and Shirley (2 miles south-west). A short drive away, we cover Thornhill (4 miles south-east), Harefield (3 miles south-east), Itchen (3 miles south-east), Sholing (4 miles south-east), Woolston (4 miles south-east) and Bitterne (3 miles south-east).

Around Bassett

Locally, jobs take us to sites close to The Bellemoor pub, Southampton Common and Saint George Catholic Voluntary Aided College Southampton and the streets around them. The nearest railway station is Swaythling station, roughly 1.5 miles east. Nearby you will also find Netley Castle (4.9 miles south-east) and Foresters Museum & Archive (2.1 miles south).
