About our washroom sealing in Gosport

Since 2005 we have resealed commercial washrooms for facilities teams, contractors and building owners. Our applicators are CSCS-carded, and we are CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member. There is public liability insurance behind every job. Every resealed washroom carries our 12-month guarantee. If you have sealant lifting along a tray edge and gaps where vanity tops meet the wall, we can help, on vanity units and basins, accessible toilets and changing rooms and showers, trays and wet room floors alike. A single leaking joint is often how a building in Gosport first comes to us: we look at the rest while we’re there and tell you what we find.

Pubs, restaurants and cafés in a town like Gosport have kitchens and customer toilets that need smooth, sealed joints. Environmental health officers look at cleanability, and a sound sanitary or hygienic sealant is part of that.

What our 12-month guarantee covers is the way we did the job: the preparation, the sealing and the tooling. Damage, later alterations by others and movement beyond what the joint was designed for sit outside it.

What we can’t put right

Honesty saves time and money. New sealant won’t cure:

  • Vanity carcasses that have swollen
  • Fittings that move too much to hold a bead
  • A room that stays damp because ventilation isn’t working

If you are not sure, just ring 01277 525 020 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Showers, trays and wet room floors
  • Kitchens and tea points
  • Urinals and WCs
  • Vanity units and basins
  • IPS panels and cubicles
  • Accessible toilets and changing rooms

Diagnose, treat, sign off

A typical day starts with protection: tape along each joint edge and covers over finishes, stock and equipment close by. On site, the work usually takes between a morning and a week or so, set by the number of rooms and the phasing you need, and we clear our waste as we work. Most work in Gosport is one building at a time: a school, a unit, an office or a block. Your photos, drawings or a site visit come first, followed by a fixed quote.

  1. We survey each room, count the joints and note anything behind them that needs another trade.
  2. The phasing is agreed so there are always facilities open.
  3. Failed silicone is removed completely and the surfaces cleaned of every trace.
  4. We clean and dry every surface so the new sealant can grip.
  5. New sanitary silicone with anti-mould additives goes in and is tooled neat.
  6. Rooms reopen after the product’s cure time, and we move to the next.

Before we start on site

  • Tell us which areas need to stay in use
  • Move anything stored against the joints
  • Warn occupants and staff about the work

Doing it in-house

Paperwork matters too. Main contractors and clients often ask for CSCS cards, RAMS and insurance details, and our CSCS-carded applicators are used to working under those rules.

What you see is the finished bead, but most of the work is hidden. Backing rod, primer where specified and a joint designed to move with the building are where general trades tend to cut corners.

Commercial washrooms in Gosport

With the shore within about 2 miles, Gosport counts as a coastal location, and coastal hotels, guest houses and holiday sites tend to fill up in the busy months. Showers and en suites in constant use are where silicone moulds and splits first, so we plan the work for quieter weeks where possible. Central London is about 66 miles from Gosport, in a commuter belt where offices and business parks are common. Office toilets in the commuter belt are in use from first arrivals to last departures, and resealing in phases keeps facilities available.

Hotels such as Railway Hotel, 1.1 miles to the south-east of Gosport, have en suite bathrooms where tired silicone at the bath, tray and basin is replaced room by room. Colleges such as St Vincent College (0.7 miles east of Gosport) have toilets, changing rooms and catering kitchens that can be resealed around term dates. Clinical washrooms at sites like Gosport War Memorial Hospital (0.8 miles south of Gosport) are scheduled with the ward so the room is out of use for as little time as possible.

What affects the price in Gosport

Each job is priced on its own details. The main factors are:

  • Backing rod, priming and other preparation
  • Removal of failed or old sealant
  • The product specified
  • How much there is to seal

Quantities, awkward access and phased working all shape the price. Site requirements like inductions and permits play a part as well, along with the time of year for external work.

Details that help us quote

The more we know, the firmer the quote. When you get in touch, include:

  • Anything awkward about access or site hours
  • The postcode of the building
  • A wide shot and a close-up of the area
  • Asbestos survey details if the building is older

Quotes are fixed against the scope you send, so you know the figure before anyone is on site. To start the process, call 01277 525 020 or send details through our quote form.

Common questions from Gosport clients

Will our hotel in Gosport need to close for the work?

In the majority of cases no closure is needed: we work room by room or floor by floor. Housekeeping and our team agree each day’s rooms.

Is a hospital such as Gosport War Memorial Hospital somewhere you can work?

Yes. We work in healthcare settings as well as offices and schools. Each area is agreed with the ward or department and the estates team in advance.

Will your applicators have CSCS cards?

Yes. We use CSCS-carded applicators, which many sites require.

Do you take on multi-site work?

Yes. Several buildings can share a single quote, with one point of contact.

How long do sealant joints last?

Nobody can honestly give a figure in years, since movement, weather, cleaning and use all affect it. Regular inspection is the best way to catch problems early.

Do you use special sealant for toilets and showers?

Sanitary silicone with anti-mould additives for most washroom joints. Neutral-cure grades are used where acetoxy types could mark metals, stone or mirror backings.

Will all the toilets be closed at once?

Just the room being resealed is out of use. Each room reopens after the sealant’s cure time and we start the next.

Maintenance after handover

Keep the joints in good shape with a few simple steps:

  • Clean sealant with gentle products and a soft cloth
  • Don’t leave an open joint at a basin or tray
  • Leave signs up until the cure time is over
  • Squeegee showers and trays after busy periods

Ventilation is half the battle. Constant damp lets mould take hold even on anti-mould grades so report fans that aren’t working to your building services team.

Small numbers of failed joints are quick to phase in. Left, it tends to become a building-wide job and more closures to manage.

Surface by surface

Kitchens and tea points

We plan kitchen sealing around when the kitchen is in use. Tell us your site hours and access windows and we’ll plan around them.

Wet-room floors and floor-to-wall joints

We seal the visible joints; we don’t install or repair waterproofing below and point it out if water appears to rise from below.
