Need floor joint sealing in Standford?

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

Floor joint sealing in Standford, done properly

We diagnose the floor first rather than guessing at a product: joint widths, whether the joints are still opening, what runs over them and how the edges have held up. From that we choose between a semi-rigid filler and a more flexible sealant, area by area where it needs to be. Most enquiries involve drivers complaining about joints on a route and a gap opening alongside old joint filler, on construction joints, saw-cut induced joints and retail and showroom floors. Looking for mastic applicators who cover Standford? We’ve been sealing commercial buildings since 2005, with CSCS-carded applicators.

Around smaller places such as Standford, floor joints are often in barns and farm buildings turned into workshops, stores and offices. Joints in those slabs take vehicles, trolleys and foot traffic, and need a filler or sealant to match.

Whoever the client is, the cover is the same: a 12-month guarantee on our workmanship. Faults in the structure, damage and other trades’ work fall outside it, and we say so plainly.

Different surfaces, different methods

Semi-rigid joint fillers

For trafficked warehouse joints, semi-rigid fillers are common. We place them to depth and trim them level with the slab.

Isolation joints at walls and columns

Perimeter and column joints get forgotten, and they collect dust and debris. We record them with the rest of the floor joints.

Common questions from Standford clients

Can you take on a job at a hospital such as Chase Hospital?

Yes. Healthcare sites are among the places we work. Each area is agreed with the ward or department and the estates team in advance.

Is Standford too far out for you?

Not at all: smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across Greater London and the South East. We plan jobs in smaller places so return trips are kept to a minimum.

Is the floor joint work guaranteed?

Every job has our 12-month guarantee. It applies to our workmanship rather than structural movement or accidental damage.

Do you seal on top of existing sealant?

No. Sealing over old material is one of the classic causes of early joint failure, so everything comes out first.

Will we need to close the floor?

Usually only the zone we’re working in has to close. Traffic returns to each zone once it has cured, then we move to the next.

Does the weather affect the work?

It can, when the joints are outside. Sealant won’t bond properly to a wet or frosty joint, so external work may be moved if conditions aren’t right. Indoors, the weather is rarely a problem.

How soon can traffic go back on the floor?

The wait is set by the product’s cure time and cooler floors take longer. Phasing is planned with that in mind.

Commercial clients in Standford

Housing associations and managing agents often need work done across blocks and communal areas. We phase the work so people keep access, with each stage agreed with your site contact.

We take on planned maintenance as well as one-off repairs: working through a building or an estate in stages that fit your budget. Sites in Standford can sit alongside others in a wider programme across Hampshire.

Floor joint sealing in Standford: the local picture

Standford sits in one of the drier corners of the country, the South East. Outside joints in yards and car parks still have to be dry before sealing, and where de-icing salt is spread in winter, open joints let it in. Less than 3 miles from Standford there are at least three named estates and business parks. Sites like these are full of saw-cut floor joints, yard slabs and car park joints.

For an estate such as Chase Hospital, 1.1 miles west of Standford, the joints in ramps, decks and long building elevations all need attention over time. Another example is Woolmer Trading Estate, 1.3 miles to the west of Standford, where floors and yards would be done in stages around the occupiers. For an occupier at a site such as Passfield Industrial Estate, under half a mile south-east of Standford, the joints at loading doors and dock levellers normally see the hardest wear.

Standford is about 7 miles south-east of Alton, in Hampshire. We send applicators to Standford for floor joints, handled exactly as we handle every other area. Across Hampshire, 723 places are covered, Standford among them. Sites around Portsmouth have their own page, roughly 23 miles from Standford.

We cover the GU35 postcode districts. We cover commercial and managed buildings on Robin Hood Gardens, Standford Lane and Tulls Lane and the roads nearby. We also cover Hollywater (1 mile south-west), Deadwater (1 mile north-west), Lindford (1 mile north-west), Headley (1 mile north-east) and Bordon (1 mile north-west). Bigger towns within reach include Farnborough (13 miles north), Fleet (12 miles north), Aldershot (10 miles north), Alton (7 miles north-west), Petersfield (8 miles south-west) and Hook (13 miles north-west).

What’s near Standford

Locally, jobs take us to sites close to Mill Chase Academy. Standford’s nearest station is Liphook station, about 2.9 miles south-east of the centre. A little further out are Chase Community Hospital (1.1 miles west). For a walk, there’s Wheeler's Down and Deadwater Valley.

Keeping the joints sound

Regular inspection catches problems early. Specifically:

  • Mention any aggressive cleaning regime at quote stage
  • Ask drivers not to drag forks or pallets
  • Clear packed debris from open joints regularly
  • Keep photographs of joints that look like they’re failing

Dragged forks and pallets gouge joints and edges alike. Even a well-filled joint can be damaged by steel scraping along it.

Joints are easiest to look after when someone checks them regularly. We can quote a programme that starts with the busiest areas so nothing is left to fail.

Why act early in Standford

An open joint is a modest filling job while its edges are sound. Wait until the edges have spalled and the concrete needs repairing before the joint can be filled, with longer closures to match. Converted and older buildings near places like Standford tend to move, and aged sealant cracks. The right product, sized to the joint, copes much better.

Whether it’s a single area or a whole estate, the same things set the price: what’s in scope, how we reach it, what’s specified and when it needs doing. Call for a quote and we’ll put a fixed figure on it.

What we can’t put right

Being straight saves everyone time. New sealant won’t cure:

  • Worn screed or surface finishes
  • Joint edges that have already broken away, which need repairing before filling (we’ll tell you if so)
  • Unstable slabs moving under traffic

Not sure which it is? You can call 01277 525 020 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Forklift and pallet-truck routes
  • Retail and showroom floors
  • Construction joints
  • Joints along racking aisles
  • Loading bays
  • Saw-cut induced joints

How a job runs

When we get to site, we sign in, go through any site induction and check how permits are handled. Everything around the joints gets protected before anything is cut or cleaned, with the work itself normally taking anything from a day for one loading bay to several days for a large floor, split into phases. For a building around Standford, tell us how to find it and who will meet us. Send that with the details and we’ll confirm the plan with the quote.

  1. First comes a walk of the floor to record joint sizes, broken edges and traffic routes.
  2. You get a fixed quote with the product and the phasing set out.
  3. Each joint is cleared of old fill and dirt and taken back to clean, sound edges.
  4. Dust is sucked out of the joint and a primer used if the product data sheet asks for one.
  5. The chosen product is placed to its specified depth and trimmed level with the floor.
  6. Each phase reopens when the product is ready for wheels, then we start the next.

Getting the site ready

  • Clear stock, furniture or equipment away from the joints
  • Point out any areas we must not close
  • Tell staff and tenants when we will be in
