Facade sealing for Rushmoor sites

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

Facade sealing in Rushmoor, done properly

External joints face UV, rain, temperature swings and building movement all year, so they don’t last indefinitely. How long a joint lasts depends on the movement it takes, its exposure, the product and how well it was installed. When it fails, the whole bead is cut away and the joint rebuilt. We work on stone and brick facade joints, window and door perimeters and shopfront frames, and the usual reasons a site gets in touch are air leaks through failed facade joints and perimeter joints where frames meet the structure. Whether you call it commercial sealant work, mastic application or joint sealing, in Rushmoor it comes down to the same thing: the right product in a properly prepared joint.

In the countryside around places like Rushmoor, conversion schemes put new frames into old stone, flint, brick or timber. Those joints need a sealant that suits an uneven, sometimes porous surface, and often a colour chosen for the building.

Building owners and contractors get the same cover: twelve months on the work we carried out. It doesn’t extend to damage, faults in the building or work by others, and we’re upfront about that.

Building and refurbishing in Rushmoor

At about 37 miles from central London, Rushmoor is within reach of the capital. Towns within reach of London tend to keep building, from flats to offices and schools, so mastic packages have to keep pace with busy programmes. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK. That doesn’t stop wet spells, or frosty starts that leave panels too damp to seal, so external mastic is timed for workable conditions and agreed with the site manager.

On a campus such as University for the Creative Arts, which lies north-west of Rushmoor, new teaching buildings and residences are usually built and refurbished around the academic year. Historic houses such as Farnham Castle (to the north-west of Rushmoor) are a reminder of the older buildings in the wider area, where sealing against old stone, brick or timber needs compatible products.

Rushmoor is about 4 miles south-east of Farnham, in Surrey. We cover commercial sites throughout Rushmoor, for single jobs and planned programmes alike. We work across 379 places in Surrey, from busy centres to rural villages. For work in that direction, see our Reading page, about 22 miles away.

Commercial sites across GU10 are covered for facade joints. For a building on Sandy Lane, Lowicks Road and Tilford Road or nearby, send details and we will quote for facade joints. We also cover Tilford Common (1 mile north), Pitch Place (1 mile south-east), Crosswater (1 mile south-west), Thursley (2 miles east) and Green Cross (2 miles south). Nearby towns on our patch include Guildford (10 miles north-east), Woking (13 miles north-east), Camberley (12 miles north), Farnham (4 miles north-west), Frimley (11 miles north) and Haslemere (5 miles south).

When to call us in Rushmoor

When the sealant tears down its centre, it has typically been asked to move more than it can. The joint may be too narrow, the bead too thin or the sealant the wrong movement class.

What tends to prompt an enquiry:

  • Water coming in around window frames
  • Failed seals around shopfront and entrance frames
  • Facade joints cracked through the middle
  • Previous reseals run over old sealant

New wings at hospitals like Haslemere and District Hospital, 4.9 miles to the south of Rushmoor, bring long runs of window and panel joints to seal.

Questions to ask before you appoint anyone

When to bring in a specialist

For a quick touch-up, site staff may be fine, but anything bigger is another matter: a specialist works through quantities efficiently, leaves a consistent finish and backs it with a 12-month guarantee.

The visible bead is only part of the job. Correct depth, the right primer and a sealant matched to the movement are where general trades tend to cut corners.

How a job runs

We follow your site rules from the start: signing in, inductions and any permit to work. With the paperwork done, we take the joints in the sequence agreed with you, and each area is checked before we leave it. If others near Rushmoor need work, visits can be combined. A fixed quote is given before anything starts.

  1. Photos, drawings or a visit tell us about the joints and the access.
  2. Product choice follows the joint’s movement and substrate.
  3. The existing bead comes out in full and both faces cleaned back.
  4. Primer is applied where the maker specifies it.
  5. Backing rod is fitted and the new sealant gunned in and tooled.
  6. The finished joints are checked with you.

Getting the site ready

  • Tell staff and tenants when we will be in
  • Arrange parking or a loading space
  • Move anything stored against the joints

Advice

How the job changes by surface

Render and coated surfaces

Paintable sealants exist for joints that will be coated. We confirm the product with you before starting.

Brick and stone facades

Brick and stone facades have perimeter and movement joints that need a compatible sealant. Neutral-cure products are used because acetoxy types can mark some stone, with primer where its maker specifies.

Keeping the joints sound

To get the most from the new sealant:

  • Confirm the survey covers external sealants in older buildings
  • Don’t wait for a second leak before calling
  • Brief window cleaners about newly sealed joints
  • Plan facade sealing alongside redecoration

Record the sealant type and date on the building file. It helps when matching repairs or planning the next reseal across the elevation.

Deal with sections that fail early as soon as they show. A few metres resealed promptly can stop water damage spreading behind the facade.

Questions about Rushmoor

Is Rushmoor too small for you to travel to?

No. Small places get the same service as large ones. We work across Greater London and the South East. Send photos and a list of what needs doing, and we’ll plan the job to need as few trips as possible.

Can you work on a hospital site such as Haslemere and District Hospital?

Yes. Healthcare sites are among the places we work. Each area is agreed with the ward or department and the estates team in advance.

Can you work in cold or wet weather?

Year-round work is possible as long as joints are dry and temperatures suit the product. Frost and condensation on glass and steel are common on winter mornings.

Do you need to see the site first?

That depends on the size and complexity of the job. Straightforward work can often be priced from photos and measurements, while larger or less clear jobs get a site visit first.

Can you handle several sites?

Yes. Multi-site work and planned programmes are a core part of the service, with each site phased to suit its occupants.

What site paperwork can you supply?

Requirements differ from site to site, so list what you need, whether RAMS, insurance or CSCS details, and we’ll confirm with the quote.

What do you charge?

There isn’t a price list, because every site is different. Send photos or drawings and we will price it at a fixed figure.

Work for main contractors and building owners

Hospitality, education, healthcare, office and retail clients book us directly too. We plan around the way the building is used, so guests, pupils, patients or staff are disturbed as little as possible.

We take on planned maintenance as well as one-off repairs: working through a building or an estate in stages that fit your budget. Rushmoor can form part of a wider programme.
