Construction mastic in Rush Green, done properly
The programme rarely stands still, so the mastic package has to flex with it. We agree a sequence at the start and adjust it as the site manager releases areas. Sealing too early only means coming back once others have damaged it. The enquiries we see most involve caulk cracking where joints are moving more than expected and missed perimeter joints on a new elevation, on brick and block movement joints, sanitary and kitchen joints and cladding and panel joints. A single leaking joint is often how a building in Rush Green first comes to us: we look at the rest while we are there and tell you what we find.
Conversions of older rural buildings near smaller places such as Rush Green bring stone, flint, brick and timber up against new glazing. Those joints need a sealant that suits an uneven, sometimes porous surface, and often a colour chosen for the building.
Building owners and contractors get the same cover: twelve months on the work we carried out. It doesn’t extend to damage, faults in the building or work by others, and we’re upfront about that.

Contractors’ notes for Rush Green
Rush Green is about 19 miles from central London. Construction around the commuter belt mixes station-side flats with refurbished offices and units, and each scheme needs its mastic sealed to programme. Rainfall across the South East, Rush Green included, is lower than in many parts of the UK. That doesn’t stop wet spells, or frosty starts that leave panels too damp to seal, so we time external mastic for dry faces and agree it with the site team.
Hospital estates such as Spire Thames Valley Hospital (2.7 miles south-west of Rush Green) tend to grow and change in phases, often next to occupied wards, so facade and perimeter sealing has to fit the estates team’s plan. For contractors on a campus like Buckinghamshire New University, 1.5 miles south-east of Rush Green, facade and perimeter sealing has to fit around students and term dates.
Rush Green is about 3 miles north-west of Hillingdon, in Buckinghamshire. Our applicators travel to Rush Green for work on mastic packages, handled exactly as we handle every other area. 308 places across Buckinghamshire fall within our area, including Rush Green. What we can’t put right
We seal joints; we don’t mend everything behind them. On its own, sealant can’t deal with:
- Damage to finishes by other trades after we have sealed
- Frames fitted out of tolerance
- Faulty frames rather than failed sealant
If you are not sure, just call the office on 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What we seal
- Window and door perimeters
- Internal decorators’ caulk
- Cladding and panel joints
- Brick and block movement joints
- Floor and skirting junctions
- Sanitary and kitchen joints

If you look after buildings for someone else, clear figures and clear communication matter. We quote a fixed sum, confirm the scope and walk the finished work with you or your representative.

Why it’s worth doing now in Rush Green
A quick bead over a damaged joint can get an area past inspection, but it rarely lasts. Sealant can’t grip a contaminated or existing bead and the defect reappears in the defects period. We cut out and redo the joint properly. Halls, stores and units around places like Rush Green may not be checked every day, which gives a failed joint time to do damage. Renewing joints in good time avoids the problem.
Whether it’s a single area or a whole estate, the same things set the price: what’s in scope, how we reach it, what’s specified and when it needs doing. Call for a quote, and you will have a fixed figure to work with.

Rush Green: questions and answers
Can work at a site such as Buckinghamshire New University fit around teaching?
Yes. Education sites usually want the work in vacations or in phases during term, and we plan to suit. Let us know which documents your site asks for, and we’ll confirm them alongside the quote.
Is hospital work, at somewhere like Spire Thames Valley Hospital, something you do?
Yes. We work in healthcare settings as well as offices and schools. Work is phased so departments keep running, under the site’s own rules.
What hours do you work?
We’re in the office from 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday. Let us know your site hours and access windows, and the work will be planned around them.
Do you install fire-rated sealant as part of a package?
Where the specification calls for fire-rated or intumescent sealant around service penetrations or linear gaps, we install it to the manufacturer’s tested details. Fire-stopping design and sign-off sit with the designer and building control.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Mastic Doctor is fully insured, public liability included.
What does a mastic package normally include?
Inside and out: frame perimeters, movement joints, caulk where called for, sanitary and kitchens, all priced as one package.
How do you work with the site programme?
We work to your programme. Share the release dates and we will match our work to them, sealing as areas become ready.
What the job involves on each surface
Window and door perimeters
Perimeter joints between frames and the structure are the weather line on any new building. We use the specified perimeter sealant, usually a low-modulus neutral-cure silicone.
External facade and movement joints
External movement joints often need primer, depending on the substrate. We prime where the manufacturer specifies, and seal only with a dry joint inside the product’s temperature range.
Common problems we fix in Rush Green
A joint without backing rod or bond-breaker often fails early. Fixed to three faces, the sealant rips the first time the joint opens so we set the depth properly before sealing.
If one of these sounds familiar, it’s time for a closer look:
- External joints sealed in damp or cold conditions that are now failing
- Frame perimeters left unsealed or poorly sealed
- Internal caulk splitting as the building dries out
- Bath and shower joints scraped during the final clean
When units on a site such as Uxbridge Business Park (1.5 miles east of Rush Green) are refurbished or reclad, the panel joints and window perimeters are part of the mastic package.
What to look for in a quote
- How they’ll work around occupants
- Their public liability cover
- Who will actually carry out the work
- Do they follow the manufacturer’s priming guidance?
