New build and refits around Ringwood

Ringwood has several hotels close by, all within 2 miles. Hotel schemes tend to have fixed reopening dates, so the mastic is programmed tightly with the other trades. Rainfall across the South East, Ringwood included, is lower than in many parts of the UK. Even so, frost and condensation on steel and glass are common on winter mornings, so we time external mastic for dry faces and agree it with the site team.

Further education sites such as Sheiling College (to the west of Ringwood) are extended and refurbished from time to time, with mastic often programmed into the summer break. Hotels like The Crown Hotel, less than half a mile to the west of Ringwood, rarely close for long, so refurbishment mastic is phased floor by floor.

About our construction mastic in Ringwood

On a new build, the mastic package is one of the last trades through each area, so it lands at exactly the point the programme is tightest. We work as a mastic subcontractor to main contractors and developers with projects in Ringwood. If you have new external sealant already peeling away and mastic snags holding up handover, we can help. Whoever orders the work in Ringwood, the brief is normally the same: a clear scope, tidy work and joints that don’t fail again.

On a small site around Ringwood, the mastic is best done in the fewest visits we can manage. Tell us when scaffold comes down and when decoration finishes, and we will plan around those stages.

A 12-month guarantee applies to all our work in Hampshire. Should something we installed fail, call 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings and we’ll come back to it.

Your questions answered

Is a hospital such as St Leonard's Hospital somewhere you can work?

Yes. Healthcare sites are among the places we work. The estates team’s permit system and infection-control rules come first, and the work is planned around them.

Can you work around term dates at a campus such as Sheiling College?

Yes. Education sites typically want the work in vacations or in phases during term, and we plan to suit. We’re CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member, and paperwork such as RAMS is confirmed with the quote.

Can you seal external joints in wet or cold weather?

Weather matters for external sealing: the joint needs to be dry and within the product’s temperature range. We plan external elevations with that in mind.

Do you work in Ringwood?

Yes. Sites across Ringwood are covered, and the same phone number covers every area.

Will you quote for a small job?

We quote for single jobs as well as large packages and programmes. Photos and a description are enough to start.

Can weather delay the job?

It can, when the joints are outside. Sealant won’t bond properly to a wet or frosty joint, so external work may be moved if conditions aren’t right. Internal work is far less affected.

Do you have public liability insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and the certificate can go with your quote.

Site staff or a sealant specialist?

A short, simple internal joint is often within reach of a maintenance team. Where it goes wrong is preparation: new sealant over old, damp or dusty faces, or the wrong product for the movement.

Paperwork matters too. Many sites expect CSCS cards, RAMS and proof of insurance, and our CSCS-carded applicators are used to working under those rules.

From enquiry to sign-off

Before we leave any area, the masking comes off, the area is cleaned and every joint is checked with your site contact. Where the sealant needs time to cure before use, we tell you and sign the area. Several jobs near Ringwood can be grouped on one trip. Tell us your site hours and we’ll plan around them.

  1. We walk the site or review drawings to understand the package.
  2. A fixed quote sets out scope, products and phasing.
  3. Paperwork is agreed and applicators are inducted on site.
  4. We seal plot by plot or floor by floor in line with the programme.
  5. Problems we find, such as oversized gaps, are raised right away.
  6. Final snagging is completed and the 12-month guarantee applies.

Getting the site ready

  • Confirm the product named in the specification
  • Share the asbestos register for older buildings
  • Move anything stored against the joints

Advice

Why deal with it now?

Refurbishments sometimes budget for new windows when the frames are sound and only the seal has failed. If the frame is in good order, cutting out and resealing the perimeter can be all it needs, which is a much smaller cost. We’ll say so if a frame itself is the problem. A failed joint lets water into a building whatever its size. Early resealing avoids the damage that follows a leak.

The product called for affects the cost, as does the preparation each joint needs, from cutting out to priming and backing rod. Access, phasing and site rules also count.

Why us?

  • Over 20 years of commercial sealing
  • CHAS accredited contractor
  • Old sealant cut out, never sealed over
  • A fixed quote before work starts

Take a look at our cost guide and our accreditations and insurance.

What sets the cost

What shapes the price:

  • How much there is to seal
  • The site’s rules and procedures
  • How accessible the joints are
  • Travel to remote or island sites

Access can matter as much as the joints themselves: easy-to-reach joints are quicker than those that need equipment to get to. Mention the access as part of your enquiry.

What we need to price the job

Whether it’s one area or a whole building, the same details help:

  • A wide shot and a close-up of the area
  • Any specification or named product
  • The site address and postcode
  • Access details, including height

If there’s a specification, drawings or a tender package, send it with your enquiry, and we’ll price against exactly what is specified. Smaller jobs need nothing more than photos and a few notes.

What we can’t put right

Before quoting, we check that sealant is the right answer. It won’t put right:

  • Glazing units that are cracked or misted
  • Approving fire stopping as compliant
  • Frames fitted out of tolerance

If in doubt, ring 01277 525 020 or use the quote form and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Internal decorators’ caulk
  • Cladding and panel joints
  • Window and door perimeters
  • Brick and block movement joints
  • Sanitary and kitchen joints
  • Floor and skirting junctions

When to call us in Ringwood

On a live site, contamination is the biggest threat to a new joint. Plaster dust, release agents, protective film residue and damp all stop sealant bonding so faces get cleaned, and primer goes on wherever the maker specifies, even on new work.

Any of the following is a good reason to get the joints checked over:

  • Failed sealant in an existing building being refurbished
  • Frame perimeters left unsealed or poorly sealed
  • Internal caulk splitting as the building dries out
  • Inconsistent sealant finishes from plot to plot

For contractors at a school such as Ringwood School, sealing has to be finished before term starts.

What your quote should include

  • Can the work be phased to keep areas open?
  • How the joint faces will be prepared and primed
  • Whether their applicators hold CSCS cards
  • Their public liability cover
