Construction mastic across Ashurst
Photos, a specification or a quick description of the joints is enough to start a fixed quote.
What sets the cost
Sealant work doesn’t have a standard rate, because every site is different. What we take into account:
- Whether old sealant has to be cut out first
- How accessible the joints are
- Whether the work must be split into stages
- Which sealant the job calls for
Access can matter as much as the joints themselves: easy-to-reach joints are quicker than those that need equipment to get to. Mention the access as part of your enquiry.
What to include in your enquiry
Whether it’s one area or a whole building, the same details help:
- Any specification or named product
- Rough lengths or quantities, or drawings if you have them
- The site address and postcode
- When you need the work done
The quickest route to a quote is a few photos and the site postcode. Send them through the quote form, or phone 01277 525 020 or send details through our quote form if you’d rather talk the job through.
How we handle construction mastic in Ashurst
Mastic is often where a new building first shows its quality to the client. Untidy or missed joints are among the commonest snag items. We seal so the snag list stays short, area by area through the programme. We work on floor and skirting junctions, cladding and panel joints and internal decorators’ caulk, and the failures we are asked to look at most are sealant knocked or painted over by other trades and inconsistent sealant finishes from plot to plot. Looking for mastic applicators who cover Ashurst? Mastic Doctor has worked for contractors, FMs and building owners since 2005, with CSCS-carded applicators.
Around smaller places like Ashurst, building work usually means conversions of farm buildings, a few new houses or an extension to a hall or school. Each still needs a proper mastic package: window perimeters, facade joints and internal sealant to the specification.
We stand by our work with a 12-month guarantee. That covers our preparation and application.

Should maintenance staff do it?
Redoing a failed joint normally costs more than getting it right at the outset, since all of it has to come out and the faces be cleaned back again. That’s why many clients bring in a specialist from the beginning.
The visible bead is only part of the job. Correct depth, the right primer and a sealant matched to the movement are where general trades tend to cut corners.
Construction mastic in Ashurst: the local picture
Ashurst lies within about 3 miles of the sea. Coastal exposure means perimeter and cladding joints work harder than on an inland job, so we check the specified product suits the exposure before the first bead. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK. That doesn’t stop wet spells, or frosty starts that leave panels too damp to seal, so we time external mastic for dry faces and agree it with the site team.
When a school such as Foxhills Infant School is extended or refurbished, the mastic package is often squeezed into the holidays. Units on estates such as Rushington Business Park (1 mile north-east of Ashurst) tend to be reclad and refitted as tenants change, and each job leaves cladding and perimeter joints to seal. Projects at colleges like Totton College (to the north of Ashurst) tend to run to term dates, so the mastic is planned tightly.
Ashurst is about 2 miles south of Totton, in Hampshire. We send applicators to Ashurst for mastic packages, handled exactly as we handle every other area. Across Hampshire, 723 places are covered, Ashurst among them. There’s a separate page for Southampton, roughly 6 miles from Ashurst.

Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchens and utility areas
Commercial kitchens often need hygienic or food-safe sealants. We follow the specification and seal to a smooth, cleanable finish.
Window and door perimeters
Gaps around frames have to be within the sealant’s range. Gaps outside the product’s range are raised with the site team.
Questions we are asked in Ashurst
Can work at a site such as Totton College fit around teaching?
Yes. Education sites normally want the work in vacations or in phases during term, and we plan to suit. Tell us which site documents you need, such as RAMS, our insurance certificate or CSCS details, and they’re confirmed with the quote.
Is Ashurst too far out for you?
No. Places such as Ashurst are covered as much as the big towns. We work across Greater London and the South East. We plan jobs in smaller places so return trips are kept to a minimum.
What accreditations do you hold?
We’re CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member, with CSCS-carded applicators. Public liability insurance of five million pounds is in place too.
What joints do you seal on a new build?
The scope comes from the specification and drawings, but frames, sanitary, kitchens, caulk where specified and snagging are typical.
Will you come and look before quoting?
It depends on the job. Straightforward work can often be priced from photos and measurements, while larger or less clear jobs get a site visit first.
Is colour matching possible?
In many cases, yes. Sealants are made in a wide range of standard colours, and matching to RAL references or nearby finishes is commonly requested. We confirm what’s available for the specified product when we quote.
Do you install fire-rated sealant as part of a package?
Where it’s specified, yes to the tested detail. If the detail calls for collars, wraps or batts instead, we will tell you.

Advice
What sealant work can’t fix
Before quoting, we check that sealant is the right answer. It isn’t the answer for:
- Frames fitted out of tolerance
- Joints damaged after sign-off by following trades
- Glazing units that are cracked or misted
Not sure which it is? You can ring 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings and we’ll tell you honestly.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Cladding and panel joints
- Sanitary and kitchen joints
- Internal decorators’ caulk
- Floor and skirting junctions
- Window and door perimeters
- Brick and block movement joints
What happens if it’s left?
Refurbishments sometimes budget for new windows when the frames are sound and only the seal has failed. Sound frames often need only a new perimeter seal and that’s a far smaller job. We’ll say so if a frame itself is the problem. Halls, stores and units around places like Ashurst may not be checked every day, which gives a failed joint time to do damage. Renewing joints in good time avoids the problem.
The price depends on the quantity of joints, how much old material needs removing and the access. Call for a fixed quote when you are ready.
