What sealant work can’t fix
A few problems need another trade or a different fix, and we say so rather than covering them up:
- Repairing damaged frames or cladding
- A guaranteed perfect match to every finish
- A colour that never alters with age
If in doubt, call 01277 525 020 or email drawings and photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Coloured sealant for commercial buildings in Spittal
Coloured sealant work ranges from a new shop fit to replacing failed joints on an existing building. When replacing old joints, the new colour usually has to match what’s already there. We work on natural stone and brick, cladding panels and powder-coated and anodised frames, and what we’re called in for most is old colour-matched joints lifting at the edges and joints that need to match a new RAL frame colour. Sealant applicators who only do sealant are a different proposition from a general trade with a gun in the van: on jobs in Spittal, preparation and product choice get the time they need.
Travel to smaller places such as Spittal is planned so the whole job is finished in one visit where possible: send photographs and a complete list so the right products and colours come on the day. If neighbouring businesses have work too, the visits can be grouped.
The 12-month guarantee covers our workmanship: preparation, application and finish. It doesn’t extend to damage, other trades’ later work or movement the joint was never designed to take.

FAQs: Spittal
Is Spittal too small for you to travel to?
Not at all: smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of Scotland. Send photographs and a list of what needs doing, and we will plan the job to need as few trips as possible.
What site paperwork comes with a job in Spittal?
RAMS, insurance certificate, CSCS details: list what the site needs and we will confirm it with the quote. We’re CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member, with £5m public liability insurance and CSCS-carded applicators.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, and the certificate can go with your quote.
Will you come and look before quoting?
Many jobs can be quoted from photos, drawings or a joint schedule. If the job needs a look first, we’ll arrange a visit before quoting.
Are you CHAS accredited?
Yes. CHAS accredited, Constructionline member, and our applicators hold CSCS cards.
Can you fit around our working hours?
The office is staffed Monday to Friday, from 8am until 5pm. Tell us your site hours and access windows and the work will be fitted around them.
Are your applicators CSCS-carded?
Yes. Should the site need card details in advance, tell us and we will confirm them with the quote.
Should maintenance staff do it?
Some joints are best left to specialists: for instance fire-rated seals that must match a tested detail, trafficked floor joints and external movement joints. Getting these wrong usually costs more in the end than doing them right.
What you see is the finished bead, but most of the work is hidden. Correct depth, the right primer and a sealant matched to the movement are easy to get wrong without experience.
When to call us in Spittal
Sometimes the wrong colour went in at the start, or a different product was swapped in. The joint may work perfectly but look out of place, so someone asks for it to be changed.
Things that normally lead to an enquiry:
- Coloured joints that have cracked with movement
- Marked sealant in hotel bathrooms
- Fit-outs with a sealant colour in the specification
- A bead that fights the cladding or frame colour
Where a joint is on show in Spittal, we will check which shades the product offers before work starts.
What your quote should include
- How joint depth will be controlled
- Whether their applicators hold CSCS cards
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Are they CHAS accredited or on Constructionline?
On site: what to expect
Diagnose, treat, sign off: every visit follows that pattern. First comes an inspection and agreement on scope, then the work is carried out to the specified product and detail, and the job ends with a walk round and sign-off. Travel to smaller Scottish places like Spittal is planned so the job is finished in one visit where possible, which is why we ask for photographs and a full list first. External joints need a dry spell as well.
- We start with photos, drawings or a visit to see the finishes.
- We send the closest colours from the product’s range.
- Tell us your site hours and access windows and we will plan around them.
- Joints are prepared, primed where specified and backed.
- The agreed colour is installed and tooled neatly.
Preparing the site
- Flag any permit to work we will need
- Clear stock, furniture or equipment away from the joints
- Agree which areas must stay open
Getting a fixed quote

Different surfaces, different methods
Shop-fit and joinery finishes
Counters, display units and wall linings are seen close up. A sharp, even bead is as important as the colour.
Paintable sealants
Some joints are better sealed with a paintable product and decorated. It depends on movement and the specification because paint may crack where the joint moves.
