Coloured sealant across Rudmore

Send drawings, photos or a joint schedule, or tell us about the site, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

On site: what to expect

We schedule the visit to fit the site hours and access windows you give us. While we are working, the area stays contained and tidy, and your contact hears from us before we move to the next area. Work in places the size of Rudmore is planned as a single visit where we can. Clear photographs and measurements help us bring the right products.

  1. We start with photos, drawings or a visit to see the finishes.
  2. We send the closest colours from the product’s range.
  3. Tell us your site hours and access windows and we’ll plan around them.
  4. Joints are prepared, primed where specified and backed.
  5. The agreed colour is installed and tooled neatly.

Before we start on site

  • Tell us which areas need to stay in use
  • Send asbestos survey details if the building is pre-2000
  • Move anything stored against the joints

Coloured sealant in Rudmore

Coloured sealant is a finishing trade, so it normally comes late in a programme. We work around other trades and protect adjacent finishes, and we leave the area clean. A 12-month guarantee covers our workmanship. We work on hotel bathrooms and public areas, shop-fit joinery and counters and powder-coated and anodised frames, and what we’re called in for most is patch repairs in several different colours and fit-outs with a sealant colour in the specification. For commercial sealant work in Rudmore, you deal with one contact from quote to sign-off, whether it’s one building or several.

Around smaller places such as Rudmore, small firms often work from converted barns, yards and rural units. Those conversions put new frames and partitions against old brick, stone or timber, so each joint needs a product chosen for both surfaces.

What our 12-month guarantee covers is the way we did the job: the preparation, the sealing and the tooling. Damage, later alterations by others and movement beyond what the joint was designed for sit outside it.

Your questions answered

Does a coastal location like Rudmore affect which sealant is used?

It can. Coastal exposure works external joints harder than inland weather. We check the specified product suits the exposure and pay close attention to preparation.

Must a hotel around Rudmore close while you work?

Almost never. The work is phased so most rooms stay available. The plan is built around your bookings.

How do we ask for a quote?

You can use the quote form on this site; alternatively, speak to us on 01277 525 020 or email the details over. Photos, drawings or a joint schedule help us quote quickly.

How do you choose the sealant?

A specification, where there is one, decides it. Without one, the joint decides: how much it moves, what it bonds to and whether it’s wet, trafficked or fire-rated.

Will your applicators have CSCS cards?

Yes. Should the site need card details in advance, tell us and we will confirm them with the quote.

What will the job cost?

It depends on the job: the volume of work, the access, the specified product and how it’s phased. Call for a quote.

Can weather delay the job?

It can, for external work. Sealant won’t bond properly to a wet or frosty joint, so external work may be moved if conditions aren’t right. Indoors, the weather is rarely a problem.

For managing agents and facilities managers

Agents, factors and owners’ representatives all follow the same route: send the details, accept a fixed quote, and we carry out and guarantee the work. Keys, access and contacts can be agreed in advance.

Building owners and managing agents use us on sealant work across single buildings or whole portfolios. One quote can cover more than one site, so there’s one set of paperwork to deal with.

How the job changes by surface

Shop-fit and joinery finishes

Counters, display units and wall linings are seen close up. Clean masking and neat tooling matter as much as colour.

Powder-coated and anodised frames

Metallic and anodised finishes are hard to match exactly with sealant. We’ll suggest the nearest standard colours so you can choose.

What Rudmore’s businesses ask us to seal

Rudmore sits close to the coast, within about 1 mile. For shops, hotels and offices, that means frontage and frame joints that weather faster than they would inland. We choose a product rated for the exposure, then confirm the colours available for it. Rudmore sits in one of the drier corners of the country, the South East. Even so, outside sealing waits for a dry joint, and cold, damp mornings can delay it.

For premises near Portsmouth & Southsea station, which lies south of Rudmore, footfall is part of the plan: work is phased so shops and offices keep trading. Refits at hotels like The Avenue Hotel, 0.6 miles north of Rudmore, bring joints at vanity tops, bars and reception desks that guests see every day. A business with units at Victory Retail Park and Copnor Bridge Business Centre needn’t use two contractors for its sealant.

Rudmore is about 1 mile north-west of Portsmouth, in Portsmouth. Any commercial site in Rudmore is covered, for single jobs and planned programmes alike. We work across 19 places in Portsmouth, large and small.

If you need coloured sealant in PO2 and PO1, the process matches everywhere else we work: details, then a fixed price, then sealing and a 12-month guarantee. For a building on Knox Road, Wharf Road and Croft Road or nearby, we can quote for colour-matched joints. With the M275 and A2047 nearby, Rudmore is straightforward for us to reach. We also cover North End (1 mile north-east), Tipner (1 mile north-west), Portsmouth (1 mile south-east), Landport (1 mile south) and Copnor (1 mile east) for colour-matched joints.

When it isn’t the sealant

We seal joints; we don’t mend everything behind them. On its own, sealant can’t deal with:

  • Restoring stained stone or masonry next to old sealant
  • Exact bespoke colour matches beyond the product’s range
  • Preventing all fading from sunlight and weathering

If you’re not sure, just give us a call on 01277 525 020 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Cladding panels
  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Powder-coated and anodised frames

General trades versus a specialist

Certain joints really need a specialist: for instance fire-rated seals that must match a tested detail, trafficked floor joints and external movement joints. Getting these wrong normally costs more in the end than doing them right.

What you see is the finished bead, but most of the work is hidden. Backing rod, primer where specified and a joint designed to move with the building are where general trades tend to cut corners.

Keeping the joints sound

To get the most from the new sealant:

  • Approve a sample bead on high-profile areas
  • Clean coloured joints with mild products
  • Reseal whole runs rather than patching single joints
  • Don’t let trades patch coloured joints with a random sealant

Let the joints cure as the manufacturer advises before they’re cleaned. Fresh coloured beads show fingerprints and dust more easily, so brief cleaners and other trades.

Use one product and colour reference across a building or brand. It keeps repairs and new sites consistent for whoever reseals next.
