Coloured sealant for commercial buildings in Plashet

Colour-matched joints are often among the last items before handover. We work around other trades and protect adjacent finishes, and snag any marks before we leave. A 12-month guarantee covers our workmanship. We work on shop-fit joinery and counters, cladding panels and office fit-out finishes, and the usual reasons a site gets in touch are shop fits that need consistent sealant colours across sites and coloured joints that have cracked with movement. Looking for mastic applicators who cover Plashet? Mastic Doctor has worked for contractors, FMs and building owners since 2005, CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member.

Around Plashet, as across the capital, commercial buildings range from converted period premises to recent office and mixed-use blocks, which means one visit can cover joints against stone, brickwork, coated aluminium and shop-fit panels. The right product goes on each, in a colour chosen to suit where the joint is seen.

Building owners and contractors get the same cover: twelve months on the work we carried out. Faults in the structure, damage and other trades’ work fall outside it, and we say so plainly.

How the quote is worked out

A fixed quote reflects the actual work. It takes account of:

  • The total length or number of joints
  • Backing rod, priming and other preparation
  • Location, for remote and island sites
  • Site requirements such as inductions and permits

A quote for colour-matched joints depends on how many there are, their condition and the access, plus any specification you’re working to. Ask us for a fixed quote.

Sending details for a quote

The more we know, the firmer the quote. Helpful details to send:

  • The product your specification calls for
  • Asbestos survey details if the building is older
  • Drawings or a marked-up plan, if available
  • When you need the work done

If there’s a specification, drawings or a tender package, send it with your enquiry, and we’ll price against exactly what is specified. For smaller jobs, photos and a description will do.

Commercial premises in Plashet

The 3 miles around Plashet take in at least three named trading estates, business parks or retail parks. Tenant changes on such sites bring fit-outs, and fit-outs bring new joints, often in a colour the occupier specifies. Most London commercial buildings run contractors through a reception, a permit system and booked goods-lift slots. We fit into those systems and phase the work so the building keeps operating.

A business with units at Beckton Triangle Retail Park and Gateway Retail Park needn’t use two contractors for its sealant. In hotels such as OYO Greenleafe Hotel, 0.8 miles to the west of Plashet, refurbishments typically mean bathroom, bar and reception joints where a matched sealant colour has to sit with the finishes. Shops and cafés around stations like Woodgrange Park station, 0.5 miles to the north of Plashet, trade from early, so work is timed around them.

Plashet is about 2 miles north-east of Plaistow, in Greater London. Looking for coloured sealant in Plashet? We can help. Across Greater London, 764 places are covered, including Plashet. Our London page has more on work in that area (7 miles or so).

What the job involves on each surface

Paintable sealants

Paintable sealants suit internal, low-movement joints best. If the joint needs a product that can’t be painted, we say so.

Shop-fit and joinery finishes

Shop fits bring laminate, timber, metal and stone together, each with its own colour. Each joint gets a colour that suits the materials it sits between from the product’s range.

When to bring in a specialist

Site maintenance staff can often handle a short internal joint. Where it goes wrong is preparation: new sealant over old, damp or dusty faces, or the wrong product for the movement.

What you see is the finished bead, but most of the work is hidden. Backing rod, primer where specified and a joint designed to move with the building are where general trades tend to cut corners.

Questions about Plashet

Will you take on work at estates like Beckton Triangle Retail Park, close to Plashet?

Yes. Our area takes in Plashet and its surroundings, with estates and business parks such as Beckton Triangle Retail Park included. A few photos and the unit address let us price the work.

Can you work in a London building with booked loading and goods-lift slots?

Yes. Inductions, permits and timed loading are routine for us in London. The building manager’s rules go straight into our method. All of Greater London is inside the ULEZ, and our planning allows for it

Do you seal on top of existing sealant?

No. Sealing over old material is one of the classic causes of early joint failure, so it all comes out first.

Can we see a sample before the full job?

Yes. A trial length can be applied and approved before the full run. The colour can shift a little as it cures, so it’s worth checking in real light.

Do you work in Plashet?

Yes. We cover Plashet and the rest of Greater London, within our coverage of Greater London, South East England and Scotland. For a quote, phone 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings.

How do I request a quote?

It works in four steps: send details, get a quote, we seal, guaranteed. The first step only needs photographs and a postcode.

What site paperwork can you supply?

Each site asks for different documents, so list what you need, whether RAMS, insurance or CSCS details, and we will confirm with the quote.

What we can’t put right

A proper diagnosis includes knowing what sealant can’t do. We’ll tell you if the real problem is any of the following:

  • Materials with mixed tones that defy a single match
  • Restoring stained stone or masonry next to old sealant
  • Stopping sealant from ever changing colour outdoors

If in doubt, call the office on 01277 525 020 or send details through our quote form and we will say what we think before you book.

What we seal

  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Cladding panels
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Powder-coated and anodised frames

On site: what to expect

Our CSCS-carded applicators arrive with the sealants, primers and backing rod the job calls for. Any old material is cut back to clean, sound faces, the manufacturer’s primer is applied where it’s called for, and each bead is tooled to a neat concave finish. Planning a London job such as one in Plashet starts with access. Give us the hours we can be on site and we’ll schedule to suit.

  1. We confirm the joint type and the product it needs.
  2. Your RAL reference, sample or photo is checked against that product’s colours.
  3. You approve the colour, on site if it’s critical.
  4. The existing bead comes out, then faces are cleaned and backed.
  5. Edges are masked and the coloured sealant applied and tooled.
  6. Masking comes off and the work is checked with you.

Before we start on site

  • Arrange parking or a loading space
  • Tell staff and tenants when we’ll be in
  • Move anything stored against the joints

Advice

Why deal with it now?

Matching new joints to the existing ones is easier when the whole run is done together. Small repairs at different times rarely match, so a planned reseal often looks better value. Access in London is hard enough to arrange once, so it makes sense to deal with every failing joint while access is in place.

The price depends on how many linear metres there are, how much old material needs removing and how the joints are reached. Call for a quote when you are ready.
