Coloured sealant for Inverarish sites

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

How we handle coloured sealant in Inverarish

Coloured sealant work ranges from a new shop fit to replacing failed joints on an existing building on sites across Highland. On resealing, matching the existing colour is often as important as the seal itself, especially on a listed or high-profile elevation. We work on shop-fit joinery and counters, hotel bathrooms and public areas and natural stone and brick, and what we’re called in for most is colour changes after a rebrand or refit and previous reseals that don’t match the original. Most enquiries from Inverarish start with one failed joint and grow into a wider look at the building: we look at the rest while we are there and tell you what we find.

Scottish weather decides a lot about outside work in a place like Inverarish: sealant needs a dry joint and the right temperature, so external work has a weather window built in. Internal joints can be done whatever the day brings.

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months. If a joint we sealed fails because of how it was installed, we come back and put it right.

How a job runs

A typical day starts with protection: masking tape along the joint edges and sheeting over anything nearby. On site, the work normally takes a day for a modest shop fit, and longer for a full building or several floors, and our waste is bagged and taken away as we go. For work around Inverarish, we aim for one trip, which is why we ask for photos and a full list first. Outside work also needs a suitable weather window.

  1. We confirm the joint type and the product it needs.
  2. Your RAL reference, sample or photo is checked against that product’s colours.
  3. You approve the colour, on site if it’s critical.
  4. The existing bead comes out, then faces are cleaned and backed.
  5. Edges are masked and the coloured sealant applied and tooled.
  6. We remove the masking and walk the finished joints with you.

Before we start on site

  • Warn occupants and staff about the work
  • Flag any permit to work we will need
  • Point out any areas we must not close

Maintenance after handover

After handover, these steps help:

  • Standardise colours across a portfolio
  • Agree the sealant colour early and write it into the specification
  • Clean coloured joints with mild products
  • Note which sealant colour was used where

Give the sealant its full cure time before cleaning or handling the area. Fresh coloured beads show fingerprints and dust more easily, so brief cleaners and other trades.

Ask for a trial bead on high-profile areas. A sample in real light shows how it will look.

Owners, agents and contractors

Building owners and managing agents use us on everything from one building to a spread of sites. One quote can cover more than one site, which keeps the paperwork simple.

CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member, we’re straightforward to vet for your supplier list. Our insurance certificate can be sent along with the quote.

Shops, offices and hotels in and around Inverarish

Inverarish lies within about 1 mile of the sea. Exposed frontages near the sea are hard on sealant, so the product has to suit the weather as well as the look. Where a frontage needs a particular colour, the product still has to suit that exposure. Inverarish is on Scotland’s wetter western side. External joints are sealed on dry days, with some flexibility in the dates. Shopfronts and frames facing the prevailing weather are where failures show first

For any commercial premises in Inverarish, a lasting joint depends on full removal of the old sealant and clean, dry faces.

Inverarish is in Highland. Anywhere in IV40, it works the same way: send details, get a fixed quote, we seal, and the work is guaranteed. Our Highland coverage takes in 256 places, from busy centres to rural villages.

We cover the IV40 postcode districts. Streets here include Inverarish Terrace and School Park. Nearby places we also cover include An t-Ollach (3 miles west), Portree (7 miles north-west), Corry (9 miles south-east), An t-Àth Leathann (10 miles south-east) and Blackpark (10 miles south-east). Remote and island addresses take more planning, from travel and ferries to the weather, so give the site location in your enquiry.

Paintable sealants

Some joints are better sealed with a paintable product and decorated. It depends on movement and the specification.

Brick and masonry

Vertical movement joints run the full height of many brick walls. A well-chosen colour helps them blend in.

FAQs: Inverarish

Is Inverarish too far out for you?

Not at all: smaller places are covered as well as towns. Every Scottish council area is within our area. Good photographs up front let us bring everything on the first visit.

Does the sea air around Inverarish change the choice of sealant?

It can. Coastal exposure works external joints harder than inland weather. We choose the product for the exposure, prime where the manufacturer requires it and size the joint for its movement.

How long does a job like this take?

It depends on the scope, but the work normally takes a day for a modest shop fit, and longer for a full building or several floors. Larger or phased jobs take longer, and we’ll give you a timescale with the quote.

Are you CHAS accredited?

Yes. Mastic Doctor is CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member.

Do you seal on top of existing sealant?

No, never. Overlaying old sealant is a frequent cause of early failure, so everything comes out first.

Can the building stay open while you work?

Usually, yes. We phase the work so most of the building stays in use.

Do you use coloured sanitary silicone?

Yes. Sanitary silicones with anti-mould additives come in a range of colours too. We’ll confirm what’s available for the specified product before work starts.

Do you need coloured sealant in Inverarish?

Failed sealant still has to be dealt with, whatever its colour: splits, adhesion loss and hardening all happen. We cut out and reseal in the agreed colour.

Common reasons buildings call us in:

  • Joints that need to match a new RAL frame colour
  • Standard-colour sealant spoiling a high-end finish
  • Shop fits that need consistent sealant colours across sites
  • Patch repairs in several different colours

In hotels such as Borodale House Hotel, under half a mile to the north-west of Inverarish, refurbishments normally mean bathroom, bar and reception joints where a matched sealant colour has to sit with the finishes.

  • How they’ll work around occupants
  • Do they follow the manufacturer’s priming guidance?
  • What level of public liability insurance do they hold?

Choosing a commercial sealant contractor

Why deal with it now?

Resealing a full run gives a consistent colour. Small repairs at different times rarely match, and the patchwork effect grows. Renewing every failing joint on one visit is the sensible approach for a place like Inverarish. Photos of each area help us quote the whole job.

Cost follows what’s involved: removing old material, preparing the joints, the product, the access and how the work is phased. Call for a quote and we will explain how it’s made up.

Why us?

  • Colour agreed before work starts
  • Failed material removed, not covered up
  • A range of standard colours, depending on the product
  • Fixed quotes based on photos, drawings or a visit
