Coloured sealant in Holbury

Tell us what needs sealing and where, with photos or drawings if you have them, and we’ll price it.

How the job changes by surface

Paintable sealants

Some joints are better sealed with a paintable product and decorated. It depends on movement and the specification, as paint can crack on a moving joint.

Office fit-outs

Office joinery and frames normally follow a colour scheme. We choose sealant colours to suit as specified.

Coloured sealant in Holbury

Colour is often written into the specification, by RAL reference or by matching a sample. Most sealant types are made in a broad range of standard colours, and we will confirm the colours available for the specified product. We don’t promise an exact custom match, but we will show you the closest options. If you’re dealing with standard-colour sealant spoiling a high-end finish and colour changes after a rebrand or refit, we can put it right, on office fit-out finishes, cladding panels and natural stone and brick alike. Facilities teams, main contractors and managing agents in Holbury tend to want the same three things: a fixed quote, no surprises on site and a 12-month guarantee behind the result.

Places like Holbury tend to have a handful of commercial buildings: a local shop, a pub or restaurant, a surgery, a school and the odd office or workshop. Each job is modest, yet a joint in a small café needs the same cutting out, cleaning and sealing as one in a city office.

The 12-month guarantee covers our workmanship: the preparation, the sealing and the tooling. Damage, later alterations by others and movement beyond what the joint was designed for sit outside it.

Honest limits

Our job is the joint, not everything around it. Sealant alone won’t deal with:

  • Finishes that change colour from one area to another
  • Preventing all fading from sunlight and weathering
  • Cleaning or repairing the surrounding finishes

If in doubt, give us a call on 01277 525 020 or email drawings and photos and we will say what we think.

What we seal

  • Cladding panels
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Powder-coated and anodised frames
  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas

Our process

Before any cutting starts, the area is protected: tape along each joint edge and covers over finishes, stock and equipment close by. On site, the work normally takes a few hours or a phased programme, depending on joint lengths and how many colours are involved, and our waste is bagged and taken away as we go. Work in places the size of Holbury is planned as a single visit where we can. Clear photographs and measurements help us bring the right products.

  1. The sealant type is chosen for the joint first, then the colour.
  2. We compare your RAL reference or sample with the colours made for that sealant.
  3. Where colour is critical, a sample bead can be agreed in a discreet spot.
  4. We take out the existing bead, clean the joints and fit backing.
  5. The coloured sealant is applied and tooled with clean, masked edges.

Before we start on site

  • Agree which areas must stay open
  • Confirm the product named in the specification
  • Point out parking and an unloading spot

Getting a fixed quote

Specifications, drawings and tender packages are welcome with any enquiry, and we’ll price the work to it. Smaller jobs need nothing more than photographs and a few notes.

Questions we’re asked in Holbury

Will our hotel in Holbury need to close for the work?

In the majority of cases no closure is needed: we work room by room or floor by floor. We agree the order of rooms and the timings with you before we start.

Can being near the sea in Holbury affect the sealant we need?

It can. Driven rain and salt are tougher on outside sealant than sheltered inland conditions. Product choice and preparation matter more, and sea-facing elevations are worth inspecting more often.

Do you hold CHAS accreditation?

Yes. CHAS accredited, Constructionline member, and our applicators hold CSCS cards.

When is resealing likely to be due?

There isn’t a single answer, since movement, weather, cleaning and use all affect it. Regular checks let you plan resealing before leaks or damage.

Does coloured sealant change colour outdoors?

Some change over time is normal. How much depends on the product, the colour and the exposure, and we can’t promise a colour that never alters.

How do you choose the sealant?

If the job is specified, we follow the specification. Otherwise, we recommend a product to suit the joint’s movement, the substrate and the conditions, following the manufacturer’s guidance.

Does a coloured sealant perform differently from a standard one?

Colour is a choice within a product’s range, not a separate type of sealant. Preparation, backing and tooling are what make it last in any colour.

What affects the price in Holbury

We price every job individually. The things that drive the figure:

  • Whether the work must be split into stages
  • The site’s rules and procedures
  • Location, for remote and island sites
  • Whether old sealant has to be cut out first

Larger quantities, tricky access or phasing all shape the price. So do site requirements such as inductions and permits.

What to include in your enquiry

We can often quote from photographs and a few details. Please tell us:

  • Any dates the work must fit around
  • The asbestos register, for older buildings
  • Any specification or named product
  • Anything awkward about access or site hours

To get a fixed quote, call the office on 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings, telling us the site location and the nature of the job. You can also send details through our quote form.

Looking after the joints

Regular inspection catches problems early. Specifically:

  • Note which sealant colour was used where
  • Agree the sealant colour early and write it into the specification
  • Protect fresh coloured sealant from dust and handling
  • Insist on the agreed colour for any repair

Expect some change in appearance over the years. Some fading is part of normal ageing outdoors, and resealing restores the look when the time comes.

Share the colour reference with anyone working on the finishes. That keeps new work in line with what’s there.

Coloured sealant in Holbury: the local picture

Holbury sits close to the coast, within about 2 miles. Exposed frontages near the sea are hard on sealant, so the product has to suit the weather as well as the look. Where a frontage needs a particular colour, the product still has to suit that exposure. Less than 3 miles from Holbury there are two named estates and business parks. Units on sites like these change tenants and get refitted, and each refit leaves joints to seal; brand colours often come into it.

A business with units at Glenmore Business Park and Hardley Industrial Estate needn’t use two contractors for its sealant. For a hotel such as Falcon Hotel, which lies east of Holbury, the colour of a joint at the bar or the bath matters to the look of the room. For premises near Netley station (3.8 miles north-east of Holbury), footfall is part of the plan: work is phased so shops and offices keep trading.

Holbury is about 2 miles south of Hythe, in Hampshire. Across the SO45 postcode area, it works the same way: send details, get a fixed quote, we seal, and the work is guaranteed.
