How we handle washroom sealing in Wildridings

Closing all the facilities in a building isn’t an option. We phase the work one washroom, one bank of cubicles or one changing room at a time, so staff, guests or pupils always have somewhere to go. Give us your site hours and access windows and the phasing is planned around them. Site teams most often ask us about gaps where vanity tops meet the wall and urinal joints that look unhygienic, across urinals and WCs, kitchens and tea points and vanity units and basins. Most enquiries from Wildridings start with one failed joint and grow into a wider look at the building: we check the joints around it and give you an honest view of what needs doing now and what can wait.

Jobs in a smaller place such as Wildridings are often one building: a school’s toilets, a café kitchen, a surgery’s washrooms. A list and photos let us quote and plan so it’s done in one visit where possible.

Every job is signed off with a 12-month guarantee. The promise is simple: if the work we did fails within twelve months, we return to fix it.

Healthcare and care settings

Healthcare work is phased so wards, clinics or residents’ areas keep their facilities. Tell us what records you need and we will confirm with the quote.

Changing rooms and gyms

We phase work so not every changing area is closed at once. Phasing follows your site hours and access windows.

Looking after the joints

Sealant joints are maintenance items, and how long they last depends on how they’re treated. Our advice:

  • Leave signs up until the cure time is over
  • Don’t leave trays and floors sitting wet
  • Act on the first split you see at a shower tray
  • Keep a record of which washrooms need attention

Ventilation is half the battle. Constant damp lets mould take hold even on anti-mould grades, so get faulty extract looked at.

In food areas, cleanability is something environmental health officers look at. Resealing sinks, worktops and splashbacks before an inspection is a simple step.

Why it’s worth doing now in Wildridings

Open or mouldy joints are hard to keep hygienic, and in kitchens, clinics and schools that is a real concern. A smooth, sealed joint can be cleaned properly. Over time, UV, weather and movement wear any sealant out. Renewing it in good time keeps the building weathertight.

The specified product makes a difference, and so does the preparation. Access, phasing and site rules also count.

Why appoint us

  • Failed material removed, not covered up
  • A Constructionline member, so easy to vet
  • 12 months’ guarantee on every job
  • Standard and matched colours in many product ranges

Diagnose, treat, sign off

Our CSCS-carded applicators arrive with the sealants, primers and backing rod the job calls for. Joint faces are cleaned back to sound, dry surfaces, primer goes on where the manufacturer specifies it, and each bead is tooled to a neat concave finish. Work in places the size of Wildridings is planned as a single visit where we can. Clear photos and measurements help us bring the right products.

  1. We inspect each washroom and record the joints to be resealed.
  2. The fixed quote sets out the rooms, the products and the phasing.
  3. The whole of the old bead is removed.
  4. Joints are degreased and dried.
  5. A sanitary silicone bead is laid and given a smooth tooled finish.
  6. Each area is handed back when ready.

Preparing the site

  • Send any specification or drawings in advance
  • Let building users know which areas are affected
  • Share the asbestos register for older buildings

Questions about Wildridings

Will our hotel in Wildridings need to close for the work?

Almost never. The work is phased so most rooms stay available. Housekeeping and our team agree each day’s rooms.

Is Wildridings off your patch?

No. Small places get the same service as large ones. We cover Greater London and the counties of the South East. We plan jobs in smaller places so return trips are kept to a minimum.

Does the weather affect the work?

For external joints, yes. The joint has to be dry and within the product’s temperature range, so damp, frosty or very cold days can stop external work. Inside work is seldom held up.

What’s the quickest route to a quote?

The quote form is the simplest route, though you can also give us a call on 01277 525 020 or email us. Include photos or drawings if you have them.

Do you hold CHAS accreditation?

Yes. We’re CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member, which helps with supplier vetting.

Will your applicators have CSCS cards?

Yes. Our applicators hold CSCS cards, which many sites require.

Can the sealant be colour-matched?

That depends on the product. Some ranges offer many colours, others very few, so we will confirm the colours available for the specified product with the quote.

When something else is needed

Sealant solves a lot, but not everything, and we’d rather tell you before you spend money. It won’t fix:

  • Condensation from failed extract fans
  • Leaks through tanking or membranes below the finishes
  • Panel boards already damaged by water

Not sure which it is? You can give us a call on 01277 525 020 or email drawings and photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Where we work in Wildridings

  • Vanity units and basins
  • Accessible toilets and changing rooms
  • Showers, trays and wet room floors
  • Urinals and WCs
  • IPS panels and cubicles

When to bring in a specialist

Paperwork matters too. Main contractors and clients often ask for CSCS cards, RAMS and insurance details, and our CSCS-carded applicators are used to working under those rules.

A short, simple internal joint is often within reach of a maintenance team. Where it goes wrong is preparation: sealing over old material, sealing onto damp or dusty surfaces, or a product that can’t take the movement.
