Need washroom sealing in Duton Hill?

Photos, a specification or a quick description of the joints is enough to start a fixed quote.

Do you need washroom sealing in Duton Hill?

Warmth, moisture and soap residue are exactly what mould needs, and sealant joints trap all three. Anti-mould additives help, but in a poorly ventilated room mould can still take hold eventually.

Clients normally get in touch after noticing one or more of the following:

  • Kitchen worktop joints that can’t be kept clean
  • Panel joints letting water behind
  • Stained sealant around pans and urinals
  • Failed sealant behind washroom basins

For buildings on a site such as Williams Field Business Centre, 1.9 miles to the west of Duton Hill, washrooms and tea points can be resealed in phases through the working week.

What to look for in a quote

  • What level of public liability insurance do they hold?
  • Will RAMS and insurance details be available?
  • Can the work be phased to keep areas open?
  • How the joint faces will be prepared and primed

Our contractor checklist

Washroom sealing in Duton Hill, done properly

You can’t shut every toilet in an office, school or hotel at once. Work is phased by room or by section, so there are always facilities in use. Give us your site hours and access windows and the phasing is planned around them. Site teams most often ask us about failed joints along IPS and cubicle panels and failed sealant behind washroom basins, on accessible toilets and changing rooms, vanity units and basins and kitchens and tea points. Whether you call it commercial sealant work, mastic application or joint sealing, in Duton Hill it comes down to the same thing: failed joints cut out, faces prepared and the right sealant laid to the right depth.

Rural businesses near smaller places such as Duton Hill, from cafés to event venues, rely on washrooms and kitchens that stay clean. Tell us your opening times and quiet periods and we’ll plan around them.

We stand behind the joints we seal: 12 months, guaranteed. That covers our preparation and application, and if something we did falls short, we return to it.

What we can’t put right

Not every problem is a sealant problem, and we are upfront when that’s the case. It won’t fix:

  • Water from plumbing, not from a joint
  • Leaks through tanking or membranes below the finishes
  • Mould caused by poor ventilation, which will return until the extract is fixed

If in doubt, ring 01277 525 020 or use the quote form and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we seal

  • Showers, trays and wet room floors
  • Kitchens and tea points
  • Urinals and WCs
  • IPS panels and cubicles
  • Vanity units and basins
  • Accessible toilets and changing rooms

How a job runs

Before any cutting starts, the area is protected: tape along each joint edge and covers over finishes, stock and equipment close by. On site, the work usually takes a morning or so for a small washroom, longer where showers and changing rooms are included, and we clear our waste as we work. Jobs in and around smaller places like Duton Hill are normally planned as a single visit, so photographs and measurements up front really help. Then the right materials arrive with us.

  1. We agree which washrooms close and when.
  2. Leaks, loose panels or damp are pointed out first.
  3. Failed sealant and residue are stripped out.
  4. We reseal with the grade suited to each area.
  5. We confirm reopening times for each washroom.

What we need from you

Advice

Looking after the joints

Keep the joints in good shape with a few simple steps:

  • Avoid scourers and harsh descalers on silicone
  • Don’t leave an open joint at a basin or tray
  • Keep a record of which washrooms need attention
  • Share your site rules when you send details

Each room goes back into use only when the sealant has cured enough. We’ll tell you when the wet areas can be used, and it helps if signs stay up until then.

A split joint at a shower tray can leak for a long time before anyone sees it. At that stage, boards or ceilings may need repair, so reseal when you first spot a split.

Questions about Duton Hill

Is Duton Hill off your patch?

No. Places such as Duton Hill are covered as much as the big towns. Our area covers London and the South East counties. We plan jobs in smaller places so return trips are kept to a minimum.

Will the toilets in our Duton Hill building be out of use?

Typically only some of them, for a short time. We work in phases so other facilities stay open. Sanitary silicone needs time to cure before the area is used, and we’ll tell you how long for the product used.

Are you CHAS accredited?

Yes. We’re CHAS accredited and a Constructionline member.

Is it possible to just clean mouldy silicone?

Typically not. Mould grows into the sealant itself so cleaning only lightens it for a while. Replacing the bead is the lasting answer.

Does weather matter for sealant work?

It can, for external work. Wet joints and cold, damp or frosty conditions stop the sealant bonding properly, so external work may be moved if conditions aren’t right. Indoors, the weather is rarely a problem.

How do we ask for a quote?

There are four steps: send details, receive a fixed quote, we carry out the work, and it’s guaranteed. The first step only needs photos and a postcode.

Is old silicone taken out first?

The failed bead is always removed. Fresh silicone can’t key to an old bead, so sealing over it soon peels.

What sets the cost

There’s no standard rate for sealant work, since sites vary so much. What we look at:

  • Working within restricted access windows
  • The size and state of each joint
  • The product specified
  • Quantities, in metres or numbers

We don’t publish prices, since every building and every scope is different. Call for a quote and we’ll price your job on its own details.

Sending details for a quote

Good information means a firmer quote. When you get in touch, include:

  • The type of building and who uses it
  • Whether an asbestos survey exists
  • Any specification or named product
  • Access details, including height

If there’s a specification, drawings or a tender package, send it with your enquiry, and we’ll price the work to it. For smaller jobs, photos and a description will do.
