About our expansion joint sealing in Badshot Lea
Buildings and slabs are never completely still: temperature, moisture, shrinkage and loading all make materials grow and shrink. Movement joints are where that movement is absorbed and the seal across each one keeps out water and grit. Mastic Doctor reseals movement joints in brickwork, blockwork, concrete, cladding and floors for buildings in Badshot Lea. We work on brickwork movement joints, precast concrete panel joints and podiums and floor movement joints, and the usual reasons a site gets in touch are joints where the bead has lost adhesion and joints packed with grit and debris. Sealant applicators who only do sealant are a different proposition from a general trade with a gun in the van: in Badshot Lea, that means joint design, primers and backing rod as standard.
Smaller community and commercial buildings around Badshot Lea have their own movement joints in walls and floors. They’re easily forgotten until water gets in or an edge breaks.
Building owners and contractors get the same cover: a 12-month guarantee on our workmanship. Faults in the structure, damage and other trades’ work fall outside it, and we say so plainly.

What happens if it’s left?
Patching the worst lengths of a joint can make sense short term. The remaining sealant is often close to failing too. We can price a patch and a full reseal side by side. Halls, stores and units around places like Badshot Lea may not be checked every day, which gives a failed joint time to do damage. Resealing early avoids that.
Larger quantities, tricky access or phasing all shape the price. So do site requirements such as inductions and permits, along with the time of year for external work.
Why choose Mastic Doctor in Badshot Lea
- Specification-led, product-correct work
- Colour agreed before work starts
- CHAS accredited contractor
- Fully insured, including public liability cover
After the work
Regular inspection catches problems early. In particular:
- Avoid parking heavy plant or pallets on joint lines
- Include every elevation and deck joint in periodic inspections
- Keep scrapers and ploughs from dragging across joint sealant
- Keep product details with the building records for the next reseal
Every joint we seal is backed by a 12-month guarantee on workmanship. Keep the handover details, product and date with your O&M records so future maintenance isn’t guesswork.
Floor joints with failed fillers break up quickly under wheels. Damaged edges make the floor rough and wear wheels faster and the broken length grows with every pass. Keeping the filler or sealant sound protects the floor.
Quoting for work in Badshot Lea
Before we quote, we look at:
- Distance, for remote addresses
- How much existing material needs removing
- Access and working height
- Phasing around occupants
The specified product makes a difference, as does the preparation each joint needs, such as cutting out, priming or new backing rod. Access, phasing and site rules also count.
What to include in your enquiry
We can often quote from photos and a few details. Please tell us:
- Your programme or deadline
- A wide shot and a close-up of the area
- Anything awkward about access or site hours
- Any specification or named product
Send us photos, drawings or a joint schedule are often enough for a fixed quote. Where a site visit makes more sense, we’ll arrange one.

Badshot Lea: questions and answers
Is a hospital such as Farnham Community Hospital somewhere you can work?
Yes. Healthcare sites are among the places we work. We follow the site’s permits, sign-in and infection-control procedures in every area.
Can you work at a site such as Preymead Industrial Estate, by Badshot Lea?
Yes. Estates, retail parks and business parks around Badshot Lea, Preymead Industrial Estate among them, are all within reach. Send details of the unit and the work through our quote form for a quick quote.
How do we ask for a quote?
The quote form is the simplest route, though you can also call 01277 525 020 or send photos by email. Photos, drawings or a joint schedule help us quote quickly.
Will you come and look before quoting?
Photos, drawings or a schedule are often enough to quote. If the job needs a look first, we’ll arrange a visit.
What happens if it rains on the day?
The joint has to be dry, and the air and surface temperature inside the product’s limits. Frost, rain and condensation on steel or concrete can hold up external work, so we plan with the forecast in mind.
Can you fit around our working hours?
We’re in the office from 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday. Let us know your site hours and access windows, and the work will be planned around them.
How soon can the area be used again?
The product and site conditions decide that. Some take light use quickly, others need longer to cure, and we confirm it before leaving site.
Honest limits
We check first that sealant really is the fix. It won’t put right:
- Waterproofing layers buried beneath the sealant
- Mechanical expansion joint covers, cover plates or proprietary joint systems (a specialist supplier’s job)
- Movement on a scale no sealant is meant to absorb
If in doubt, call 01277 525 020 or email drawings and photos and we will say what we think before you book.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Blockwork control joints
- Cladding panel joints
- Podiums and floor movement joints
- Car park decks and ramps
- Brickwork movement joints
- Precast concrete panel joints
On site: what to expect
When we get to site, we sign in, go through any site induction and check how permits are handled. Everything around the joints gets protected before any cutting starts, and the work typically takes a day or so for a modest run of joints, and longer where decks, ramps or floors are done in phases. Rural sites near Badshot Lea may need directions, gate codes or a contact on site. Send that with the details and we will confirm the plan with the quote.
- The first job is to check each joint: how wide it is, how it moves and why the old seal let go.
- A fixed quote follows, naming the sealant and its movement class.
- We strip out the old seal and prepare the faces, flagging any broken edges that need repair before sealing.
- Closed-cell backing rod is set to depth, or bond-breaker tape in shallow joints.
- Primer goes on where the manufacturer specifies it, followed by the sealant, which is then tooled off.
- Each joint is inspected and handed over with our 12-month guarantee.
Before we start on site
- Clear stock, furniture or equipment away from the joints
- Confirm the product named in the specification
- Point out parking and an unloading spot
