Construction mastic near Nash

Send drawings, photos or a joint schedule, or tell us about the site, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

About our construction mastic in Nash

Mastic Doctor has been a subcontractor on construction projects for over 20 years. We price from drawings and the specification, agree the sequence with the site team and seal as areas are released. To price a package in Nash, send drawings and the specification through our quote form. Site teams most often ask us about mastic snags holding up handover and cracks opening in caulked internal joints, on cladding and panel joints, internal decorators’ caulk and window and door perimeters. A single leaking joint is often how a building in Nash first comes to us: we check the joints around it and give you an honest view of what needs doing now and what can wait.

Around smaller places like Nash, building work typically means conversions of farm buildings, a few new houses or an extension to a hall or school. Each still needs a proper mastic package: window perimeters, facade joints and internal sealant to the specification.

Work we carry out comes with a 12-month guarantee. Should something we installed fail, call 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings and we’ll come back to it.

Common questions from Nash clients

Do you cover business parks and estates near Nash, such as Wingham Industrial Estate?

Yes. We cover Nash and the area around it, including industrial estates, business parks and retail parks such as Wingham Industrial Estate. A few photos and the unit address let us price the work.

Do you take on work at healthcare sites like St Martins Hospital?

Yes, hospitals are one of the sectors we cover. Before anything starts, the estates team agrees permits, inductions and infection-control measures with us.

Do you take on mastic snagging only?

Yes. Share the list and photos, and a fixed quote follows, with the work timed to your handover date.

Is Nash in your area?

Yes. We take on work across Nash, with one number for every area we cover.

Do you take on small jobs?

Single areas, one-off repairs and whole buildings are all quoted the same way: details, then a fixed price, then sealing, then a 12-month guarantee.

How long do sealant joints last?

It depends on movement, UV and weather, cleaning, traffic and the product. Sealant joints are maintenance items, so inspect them regularly.

Will you stick to the specified products?

The specification decides the product and flag anything that doesn’t look right for the joint. Product standards such as BS EN 15651 are often named in specifications.

Facades, frames and programmes in Nash

Central London is about 60 miles from Nash. Building activity in the commuter belt runs from new flats near stations to business park refurbishments, so mastic packages have to keep pace with busy programmes. Nash sits in one of the drier corners of the country, the South East. Even so, frost and condensation on steel and glass are common on winter mornings, so we time external mastic for dry faces and agree it with the site team.

For a contractor working at a hospital such as St Martins Hospital, 6 miles west of Nash, perimeter and facade sealing is planned around patients and deliveries. New units and refits on sites such as Wingham Industrial Estate (to the south-west of Nash) need their panel and perimeter joints sealed to the specification.

Nash is about 7 miles east of Canterbury, in Kent. We send applicators to Nash for mastic packages, handled exactly as we handle every other area. 931 places across Kent fall within our area, Nash among them. There’s a separate page for London, roughly 60 miles from Nash.

Do you need construction mastic in Nash?

Swapping the specified sealant for a cheaper general-purpose product is a common cause of failure. A general-purpose silicone on a facade or a caulk in a wet area won’t perform like the specified product. We use what’s specified, and any substitute goes to you for acceptance.

These are often picked up first by site or facilities staff:

  • Sealant knocked or painted over by other trades
  • Failed sealant in an existing building being refurbished
  • Snag items on joints that need redoing before handover
  • Internal caulk splitting as the building dries out

Older buildings in the area around Nash, such as Goodnestone Park, 3 miles to the south of Nash, need care when sealed: the product has to suit soft or historic materials.

Our contractor checklist

Surface by surface

Bathrooms, en suites and washrooms

In bathrooms and washrooms, an anti-mould sanitary silicone goes around every fitting. Each joint is prepared, sealed and finished with a neat tooled line and baths are loaded where appropriate before sealing.

Window and door perimeters

A frame gap that’s too wide can’t just be filled with sealant. Gaps outside the product’s range are raised with the site team.

Honest limits

Sealant solves a lot, but not everything, and we’d rather tell you before you spend money. These need a different solution:

  • Rework caused by others damaging completed areas
  • Specifying the product where the designer hasn’t
  • Approving fire stopping as compliant

Not sure which it is? You can call the office on 01277 525 020 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Cladding and panel joints
  • Window and door perimeters
  • Sanitary and kitchen joints
  • Floor and skirting junctions
  • Internal decorators’ caulk
  • Brick and block movement joints

On site: what to expect

Inspect, seal, sign off: every visit follows that pattern. First comes an inspection and agreement on scope, then we prepare and seal each joint with the specified product, and we finish with a walk round so the work can be signed off. Smaller jobs around Nash can be grouped with others nearby. You will have a fixed quote before work starts.

  1. We walk the site or review drawings to understand the package.
  2. A fixed quote sets out scope, products and phasing.
  3. Site paperwork is confirmed and our CSCS-carded applicators are inducted.
  4. Sealing follows the programme as areas are released.
  5. Any frame gaps or issues outside our scope are flagged to the site team.
  6. The package is closed out, snags cleared and backed by our 12-month guarantee.

Preparing the site

  • Explain the parking and delivery arrangements
  • Tell staff and tenants when we will be in
  • Confirm the product named in the specification

Advice

Should maintenance staff do it?

Redoing a failed joint normally costs more than getting it right at the outset, since all of it has to come out and the faces be cleaned back again. For that reason, many FMs and contractors use a sealant specialist from the outset.

General builders and handymen seal joints, but it isn’t their main trade. A specialist prepares properly, controls joint depth and picks a product with the right movement class.

Keeping the joints sound

Every sealant joint needs some looking after, and how long they last depends on how they’re treated. We suggest:

  • Keep product details for future maintenance
  • Stick to the specified sealant rather than a generic substitute
  • Release areas for mastic once other trades have finished in them
  • Ask cleaners to use soft cloths around fresh sealant

If a joint is damaged after sealing, flag it early. Snags can be picked up in a planned close-out visit, priced as part of the package or separately.

Sanitary joints that fail early become defects soon after occupation. Water gets behind trays, vanity tops and panels. Getting the product and preparation right first time avoids that.
