About our coloured sealant in Up Nately

A coloured bead has to perform like any other sealant. Each joint is cleaned, backed to depth and tooled firmly onto both faces, with no shortcuts because it’s decorative. Careful masking keeps the edges crisp. We work on office fit-out finishes, cladding panels and hotel bathrooms and public areas, and the usual reasons a site gets in touch are poorly tooled joints on visible finishes and dirty, discoloured joints in public areas. Looking for mastic applicators who cover Up Nately? Mastic Doctor has worked for contractors, FMs and building owners since 2005, with CSCS-carded applicators.

Commercial sealant work around smaller places like Up Nately tends to mean pubs and restaurants, halls, farm shops and offices in converted farm buildings. Each has kitchens, washrooms and frames whose joints need renewing in time.

We stand behind the joints we seal with a 12-month guarantee. That covers our preparation and application, and we come back if anything isn’t right.

Honest limits

We check first that sealant really is the fix. It won’t put right:

  • Materials with mixed tones that defy a single match
  • Preventing all fading from sunlight and weathering
  • Restoring stained stone or masonry next to old sealant

If in doubt, call the office on 01277 525 020 or email a schedule or drawings and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Shop-fit joinery and counters
  • Natural stone and brick
  • Hotel bathrooms and public areas
  • Powder-coated and anodised frames
  • Office fit-out finishes
  • Cladding panels

Our process

We bring the products specified for the job, along with primers and backing rod. Joint faces are cleaned back to sound, dry surfaces, primer goes on where the manufacturer specifies it, and the sealant is tooled off neatly. Rural sites near Up Nately may need directions, gate codes or a contact on site. Send that with the details and we will confirm the plan with the quote.

  1. The sealant type is chosen for the joint first, then the colour.
  2. Colour references, samples or photographs of the finish are checked against the product’s range.
  3. A short trial length can be approved before the full run on visible work.
  4. We take out the existing bead, clean the joints and fit backing.
  5. The coloured sealant is applied and tooled with clean, masked edges.

Advice

General trades versus a specialist

For a quick touch-up, site staff may be fine, but anything bigger is another matter: a specialist works through quantities efficiently, leaves a consistent finish and backs it with a 12-month guarantee.

A short, simple internal joint is often within reach of a maintenance team. Where it goes wrong is preparation: sealing over old material, sealing onto damp or dusty surfaces, or a product that can’t take the movement.

Common questions from Up Nately clients

Will you take on work at estates like Hatch Industrial Park, close to Up Nately?

Yes. Estates, retail parks and business parks around Up Nately, Hatch Industrial Park among them, are all within reach. A few photographs and the unit address let us price the work.

Is a smaller place like Up Nately outside your area?

No. Places such as Up Nately are covered as much as the big towns. London and every South East county are within our area. Send photos and a list of what needs doing, and we’ll plan the job to need as few trips as possible.

Are you CHAS accredited?

Yes. We’re CHAS accredited, we are a Constructionline member and we use CSCS-carded applicators.

How long does a job like this take?

It depends on the scope, but the work typically takes a few hours or a phased programme, depending on joint lengths and how many colours are involved. For bigger or phased jobs, we will set out a timescale with the quote.

Are your applicators CSCS-carded?

Yes. If you need card details for site access, tell us and we will confirm them with the quote.

Will the colour fade over time?

Some change is normal outdoors. UV and grime can soften or alter the colour, and resealing brings the look back.

Do you take on colour-matched sealant for shop fits and multi-site roll-outs?

Yes. We work with shop fitters, hotel groups and office fit-out contractors. Our area takes in Greater London, the South East and Scotland.

For managing agents and facilities managers

When you manage a building on behalf of an owner, clear figures and clear communication matter. We quote a fixed sum, confirm the scope and walk the finished work with you or your representative, plus a 12-month guarantee.

Facilities managers want contractors who arrive with the paperwork sorted. Tell us what site paperwork you need, such as RAMS, an insurance certificate or CSCS details, and we’ll confirm with the quote.

Signs you need coloured sealant in Up Nately

Colour-matched sealant is usually requested because a standard bead has spoiled the finish: a pale bead on a dark frame, or an old seal that has discoloured. A better-matched colour fixes the appearance without changing the joint’s job.

What tends to prompt an enquiry:

  • A run of joints in mismatched shades
  • White or grey sealant that clashes with the finish
  • Smeared sealant on stone or joinery
  • Shop fits that need consistent sealant colours across sites

For premises near Hook station, 1.7 miles north-east of Up Nately, footfall is part of the plan: work is phased so shops and offices keep trading.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Will RAMS and insurance details be available?
  • Health and safety accreditation such as CHAS
  • Is depth set with backing rod, or bond-breaker tape in shallow joints?
  • Who will actually carry out the work

How to choose a sealant contractor

What affects the price in Up Nately

These are the things that shape the price:

  • How accessible the joints are
  • Specialist products, such as fire-rated or hygienic sealants
  • The site’s rules and procedures
  • Whether old sealant has to be cut out first

What a job costs comes down to the quantity of joints, how much old material needs removing and the access. Call for a quote when you are ready.

What we need to price the job

For an accurate fixed quote, we need to understand the site. Useful things to include:

  • Any specification or named product
  • How the joints are reached, and at what height
  • Rough lengths or quantities, or drawings if you have them
  • Whether an asbestos survey exists

Specifications, drawings and tender packages are welcome with any enquiry, and we will price the work to it. Smaller jobs need nothing more than photos and a few notes.
